Abstract

A tamper-evident closure for a container (2), comprising a shell (1) including a break line (7) and a tearable strip (8) extending across the break line (7), such that upon first opening the strip (8) is torn apart. A closure (10) comprising a first portion (25, 30, 37) including inner (25) and outer (30) parts, and a second portion (20, 36); the first (25, 30, 37) and second (20, 36) portions initially joined by a break line (40) and the outer part (30) movable relative to the inner part (25) from a first position in which at least part of the first (25, 30, 37) and second (20, 36) portions are adjacent each other to a second position in which there is a gap (G) therebetween, and locking means for irreversibly locking the closure (10) in the second position upon first opening so that the gap (G) cannot be closed.
