Abstract

 半導体レーザ発振器は、複数のレーザダイオードを1組とした複数組のレーザダイオードと、レーザダイオードより射出されたレーザを伝送する複数組の光ファイバ(11f11~11fn1,11f12~11fn2)とを備える。光ファイバ(11f11~11fn1,11f12~11fn2)は、複数組それぞれで第1の方向に配列し、複数組が第1の方向及びレーザの進行方向と交差する第2の方向に配列している。半導体レーザ発振器は、光ファイバ(11f11~11fn1,11f12~11fn2)より射出されたそれぞれのレーザを平行光化するコリメータ(1112,1115)と、レーザダイオードより射出されたレーザを共振させる外部共振器ミラーと、外部共振器ミラーの間に配置され、コリメータ(1112,1115)より射出されたレーザをスペクトルビーム結合させるグレーティング(1103)とを備える。コリメータ(1112,1115)は、複数組の光ファイバ(11f11~11fn1,11f12~11fn2)より射出されたそれぞれのレーザをグレーティング(1103)に互いに異なる角度で入射させる。

Description

半導体レーザ発振器
 本開示は、レーザを射出する半導体レーザ発振器に関する。
 半導体レーザ発振器より射出されたレーザを用いて、金属の板材等の被加工材を加工するレーザ加工機が普及している。
 半導体レーザ発振器より射出されるレーザのビームスポットを複数にする、いわゆるマルチビームとすることが要求されることがある。従来、マルチビームを実現するには、多焦点レンズを用いる第1の方法や、複数の半導体レーザ発振器からのレーザをバンドルファイバに入射する第2の方法がある。

 第1の方法では、マルチビームの一つ一つのビームスポットのパワーは、単一のビームスポットのパワーよりも小さくなってしまう。第2の方法では、ビームスポットの個数だけ半導体レーザ発振器を用意しなければならず、コストが高くなってしまう。また、ビーム間隔がバンドルファイバの間隔で決まってしまう。
 そこで、一つ一つのビームスポットのパワーを下げることなく、安価にビーム間隔やオーバラップ率が自在であるマルチビームを実現することができる半導体レーザ発振器が求められる。
 実施形態は、このような要望に対応するため、一つ一つのビームスポットのパワーを下げることなく、安価にマルチビームを実現することができる半導体レーザ発振器を提供することを目的とする。
 実施形態の第1の態様によれば、複数のレーザダイオードを1組とした複数組のレーザダイオードと、前記複数組のレーザダイオードそれぞれに接続され、前記レーザダイオードより射出されたレーザを伝送する複数組の光ファイバとを備え、前記光ファイバは、少なくとも前記光ファイバの出力端で、前記複数組におけるそれぞれの組で第1の方向に配列し、前記複数組が前記第1の方向及び前記レーザの進行方向と交差する第2の方向に配列しており、前記複数組の光ファイバより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを平行光化するコリメータと、前記レーザダイオードより射出されたレーザを共振させる外部共振器ミラーと、前記外部共振器ミラーの間に配置され、前記コリメータより射出されたレーザをスペクトルビーム結合させるグレーティングとをさらに備え、前記コリメータは、前記複数組の光ファイバより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを前記グレーティングに互いに異なる角度で入射させることを特徴とする半導体レーザ発振器が提供される。
 上記の構成において、前記コリメータは、前記複数組の光ファイバより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを前記第2の方向のみにコリメートするマイクロレンズと、前記マイクロレンズより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを前記第1の方向のみにコリメートするコリメートレンズとを有する構成とすることができる。
 上記の構成において、前記コリメータは、前記複数組の光ファイバより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを前記第1及び第2の方向にコリメートするコリメートレンズであり、前記外部共振器ミラーの間に配置され、前記グレーティングより射出されたレーザの光軸を調整する光軸調整用レンズをさらに備える構成とすることができる。
 以上の構成において、前記光ファイバは、前記複数組が前記第2の方向にオーバラップするように積み重ねられていてもよい。以上の構成において、前記複数組のレーザダイオードが組ごとに出力制御され、出力の異なるマルチビームを形成するように構成されていてもよい。
 実施形態の第2の態様によれば、複数の面発光レーザが第1の方向に配列して組とされ、前記面発光レーザの複数の組が前記第1の方向及び射出されるレーザの進行方向と交差する第2の方向に配列した面発光レーザアレイと、前記面発光レーザアレイより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを平行光化するコリメータと、前記面発光レーザより射出されたレーザを共振させる外部共振器ミラーと、前記外部共振器ミラーの間に配置され、前記コリメータより射出されたレーザをスペクトルビーム結合させるグレーティングとを備え、前記コリメータは、前記面発光レーザアレイより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを前記グレーティングに互いに異なる角度で入射させることを特徴とする半導体レーザ発振器が提供される。
 上記の構成において、前記面発光レーザアレイにおける前記面発光レーザの組は、前記第2の方向にオーバラップするように配列されていてもよい。上記の構成において、前記面発光レーザの組は組ごとに出力制御され、出力の異なるマルチビームを形成するように構成されていてもよい。
 実施形態の半導体レーザ発振器によれば、一つ一つのビームスポットのパワーを下げることなく、安価にマルチビームを実現することができる。

 以下、一実施形態の半導体レーザ発振器について、添付図面を参照して説明する。まず、一実施形態の半導体レーザ発振器を備えるレーザ加工機の全体的構成及び動作を説明する。
 図1に示すレーザ加工機100は、レーザによって被加工材を切断加工するレーザ切断加工機である場合を例とする。レーザ加工機は、レーザによって被加工材を溶接加工するレーザ溶接加工機、レーザによって被加工材の表面を改質する表面改質装置、レーザによって被加工材にマーキングするマーキング装置であってもよい。
 レーザ加工機100は、レーザLBを生成して射出する半導体レーザ発振器11と、レーザ加工ユニット15と、レーザLBをレーザ加工ユニット15(後述するコリメート補正ユニット29)へと伝送する伝送光学ユニット30とを備える。
 半導体レーザ発振器11は、高出力のシングルエミッタのダイオードレーザを複数使用したダイレクトダイオードレーザ(DDL)発振器である。以下、DDL発振器11と称する。DDL発振器11の具体的構成及び動作については後に詳述する。
 DDL発振器11より射出されたレーザLBをレーザ加工ユニット15へと伝送する伝送光学ユニット30は次のように構成される。
 ミラー収納部32はX軸ベンドミラー33を収納し、ミラー収納部35はY軸ベンドミラー36を収納する。DDL発振器11とミラー収納部32とは、蛇腹状の光路カバー31で連結されている。ミラー収納部32とミラー収納部35とは、蛇腹状の光路カバー34で連結されている。ミラー収納部35は、コリメート補正ユニット29に連結されている。
 DDL発振器11より射出されたレーザLBはX軸ベンドミラー33で反射し、さらにてY軸ベンドミラー36で反射してコリメート補正ユニット29に入射する。
 レーザ加工ユニット15は、被加工材Wを載せる加工テーブル21と、加工テーブル21上でX軸方向に移動自在である門型のX軸キャリッジ22と、X軸キャリッジ22上でX軸に垂直なY軸方向に移動自在であるY軸キャリッジ23とを有する。また、レーザ加工ユニット15は、Y軸キャリッジ23に固定されたコリメート補正ユニット29を有する。
 コリメート補正ユニット29は、DDL発振器11から射出されたレーザLBを補正するコリメート補正レンズ28と、略平行光束に変換されたレーザLBをX軸及びY軸に垂直なZ軸方向下方に向けて反射させるベンドミラー25とを有する。また、コリメート補正ユニット29は、ベンドミラー25で反射したレーザLBを集光させる集光レンズ27と、加工ヘッド26とを有する。
 コリメート補正レンズ28、ベンドミラー25、集光レンズ27、加工ヘッド26は、予め光軸が調整された状態でコリメート補正ユニット29内に固定されている。焦点位置を補正するために、コリメート補正レンズ28がX軸方向に移動するように構成されていてもよい。
 コリメート補正ユニット29は、Y軸方向に移動自在のY軸キャリッジ23に固定され、Y軸キャリッジ23は、X軸方向に移動自在のX軸キャリッジ22に設けられている。よって、レーザ加工ユニット15は、加工ヘッド26から射出されるレーザLBを被加工材Wに照射する位置を、X軸方向及びY軸方向に移動させることができる。
 以上の構成によって、レーザ加工機100は、DDL発振器11より射出されたレーザLBを伝送光学ユニット30によってレーザ加工ユニット15へと伝送させ、高エネルギ密度の状態で被加工材Wに照射して被加工材Wを切断加工することができる。
 なお、被加工材Wを切断加工するとき、被加工材Wには溶融物を除去するためのアシストガスが噴射される。図1では、アシストガスを噴射する構成については図示を省略している。
 次に、図2~図6を用いて、DDL発振器11の具体的な構成及び動作を説明する。図2に示すように、DDL発振器11は、DDLユニット11uとDDLユニット11uに電力を供給する電力供給部113と、DDL発振器11を制御する制御部114とを有する。電力供給部113は電力供給回路によって構成することができる。制御部114はマイクロプロセッサまたはマイクロコンピュータによって構成することができる。
 図3は、DDLユニット11uの基本的な構成を概念的に示している。まず、図3を用いて、DDLユニット11uの基本的な構成を説明する。図3において、DDLユニット11uは、レーザダイオードモジュール11m1~11mnのn個のレーザダイオードモジュールを有する。
 レーザダイオードモジュール11m1~11mnのうちのいずれかを特定しないレーザダイオードモジュールをレーザダイオードモジュール11mと称することとする。レーザダイオードモジュール11mの個数は2以上で適宜設定すればよい。
 それぞれのレーザダイオードモジュール11mは、複数のレーザダイオードが直列に接続されて構成されている。レーザダイオードの個数は例えば14個である。レーザダイオードモジュール11mは、それぞれでロックさせるレーザの波長が異なる。
 レーザダイオードモジュール11m1~11mnは、各レーザダイオードより射出されたレーザを空間ビーム結合するように構成されている。各レーザダイオードのレーザを射出する側とは反対側の端面には、高反射ミラーが形成されている。
 レーザダイオードモジュール11m1~11mnには、光ファイバ11f1~11fnの一方の端部が接続されている。光ファイバ11f1~11fnの他方の端部は、ファイバアレイ1101となっている。
 ファイバアレイ1101は、一例として、図4に示すように構成される。図4は、ファイバアレイ1101をレーザの射出端側から見た状態を示している。
 光ファイバ11f1~11fnの先端部は、レーザの射出方向と直交する方向に一列に並べられた光ファイバ列110fとなっている。光ファイバ列110fの先端部の数ミリから十数ミリの範囲が樹脂110rで円筒状に被覆されて、ファイバアレイ1101が構成されている。ファイバアレイ1101のレーザの射出端側の端面は研磨されている。
 光ファイバ11f1~11fnは、少なくともファイバアレイ1101の部分において、図5に示すように、第1の方向(図5の左右方向)に配列している。
 レーザダイオードモジュール11m1~11mnより射出されたレーザは、ファイバアレイ1101より射出して、コリメートレンズ1102によって平行光化されて略平行光束となる。コリメートレンズ1102より射出されたそれぞれのレーザは、グレーティング1103に互いに異なる角度で入射して方向が曲げられて、部分反射ミラー1104を介して射出する。
 このとき、レーザがコリメートレンズ1102に入射する位置の違いによって、グレーティング1103への入射角度が決まる。
 レーザの一部は、部分反射ミラー1104で反射してレーザダイオードモジュール11mへと戻り、高反射ミラーで反射して再び部分反射ミラー1104に入射する。
 このように、レーザは、レーザダイオードモジュール11m内部の高反射ミラーと部分反射ミラー1104との間で共振する。DDLユニット11uは外部共振器を構成する。高反射ミラー及び部分反射ミラー1104は、外部共振器ミラーを構成する。
 DDLユニット11uは、レーザを、外部共振器とグレーティング1103とによって波長ロックさせる。グレーティング1103は、波長ロックの機能に加えて、スペクトルビーム結合させる機能を有する。
 以上の構成及び動作によって、DDLユニット11uからは、複数の波長にロックされた図示のような波長スペクトルSP1を有するレーザが出力される。図3の構成では、1つの円形のビームスポットLBSを有するレーザが出力される。図3のビームスポットLBSを単一ビームと称する。
 本実施形態においては、図3に示すDDLユニット11uの基本的な構成を応用して、DDLユニット11uが図6に示すように概念的に構成されている。図6において、図3と同一部分には同一符号を付し、その説明を省略することがある。図6に示すDDLユニット11uは、図3に示すDDLユニット11uとは内部構成が異なるものの、便宜上、DDLユニット11uと称することとする。
 図6において、DDLユニット11uは、レーザダイオードモジュール11m11~11mn1のn個のレーザダイオードモジュールと、レーザダイオードモジュール11m12~11mn2のn個のレーザダイオードモジュールとを有する。レーザダイオードモジュール11m11~11mn1と、レーザダイオードモジュール11m12~11mn2とは紙面と直交する方向に位置をずらした状態で配置されている。
 レーザダイオードモジュール11m12~11mn2のうちのいずれかを特定しないレーザダイオードモジュールもレーザダイオードモジュール11mと称することとする。
 レーザダイオードモジュール11m11~11mn1には、光ファイバ11f11~11fn1の一方の端部が接続されている。レーザダイオードモジュール11m12~11mn2には、光ファイバ11f12~11fn2の一方の端部が接続されている。光ファイバ11f11~11fn1及び11f12~11fn2の他方の端部は、ファイバアレイ1111となっている。
 ファイバアレイ1111は、一例として、図7に示すように構成される。図7は、ファイバアレイ1111をレーザの射出端側から見た状態を示している。
 光ファイバ11f11~11fn1の先端部は、レーザの射出方向と直交する方向に一列に並べられた光ファイバ列111f1となっている。光ファイバ11f12~11fn2の先端部は、レーザの射出方向と直交する方向に一列に並べられた光ファイバ列111f2となっている。
 光ファイバ列111f1及び111f2の先端部の数ミリから十数ミリの範囲が樹脂111rで円筒状に被覆されて、ファイバアレイ1111が構成されている。ファイバアレイ1111のレーザの射出端側の端面は研磨されている。
 光ファイバ列111f1及び111f2は、第1の方向及び射出されるレーザの進行方向との交差する第2の方向に配列している。交差する方向とは直交する方向であってもよい。配列された光ファイバ列111f1及び111f2は、第2の方向に互いに接触している。
 光ファイバ11f11~11fn1及び11f12~11fn2は、少なくともファイバアレイ1111の部分において、図8に示すように2段に配列している。光ファイバ11f11~11fn1と及び11f12~11fn2は、長さ方向の全体が図8に示すように配列していなくてもよい。
 光ファイバ11f11~11fn1及び11f12~11fn2は、少なくともレーザの射出端側の端部において、それぞれ第1の方向に配列している。光ファイバ11f11~11fn1及び11f12~11fn2は、少なくともレーザの射出端側の端部において、互いに第2の方向に配列している。
 本実施形態ではファイバアレイ1111を用いることによって、光ファイバ11f11~11fn1及び11f12~11fn2の先端部を第1の方向に配列させて光ファイバ列111f1及び111f2とし、光ファイバ列111f1及び111f2第2の方向に配列させている。ファイバアレイ1111を用いず、光ファイバ11f11~11fn1及び11f12~11fn2の少なくとも先端部を第1及び台2の方向に配列させてもよい。
 光ファイバは、少なくとも光ファイバの出力端で、複数組におけるそれぞれの組で第1の方向に配列し、複数組が第2の方向に配列していればよい。
 図6においては、図3のコリメートレンズ1102の代わりに、レーザを第1の方向にのみコリメートするコリメートレンズ1112が設けられている。また、ファイバアレイ1111とコリメートレンズ1112との間に、レーザを第2の方向にのみコリメートするマイクロレンズ1115が設けられている。マイクロレンズ1115の具体的な構成は後述する。
 円筒状のファイバアレイ1111の代わりに、平板状のファイバアレイを用いてもよい。
 以上のように構成された図6に示すDDLユニット11uからは、複数の波長にロックされた図示のような波長スペクトルSP2を有するレーザが出力される。図6に示す波長スペクトルSP2は、図3に示す波長スペクトルSP1と比較して、隣接する波長の間隔が狭く、2倍の数のロック波長を有する。
 図9~図11を用いて、図6に示すDDLユニット11uの具体的な構成を説明する。図10は図9の側面から見た状態、図11は図9の上から見た状態を示している。
 図9~図11に示すように、マイクロレンズ1115は、例えば石英ガラス板上に、光ファイバ列111f1及び111f2それぞれに対応させたマイクロレンズエレメント列115M1及び115M2を形成したものである。マイクロレンズエレメント列115M1及び115M2の個々のマイクロレンズエレメントは、光ファイバ列111f1及び111f2より射出したそれぞれのレーザを第2の方向にのみコリメートする。
 コリメートレンズ1112は、マイクロレンズ1115より射出したそれぞれのレーザを第1の方向にのみコリメートする。マイクロレンズ1115とコリメートレンズ1112との全体は、レーザダイオードモジュール11mから射出したレーザを第1及び第2の方向にのみコリメートするコリメータとして作用する。
 マイクロレンズ1115によって光ファイバ列111f1及び111f2より射出したそれぞれのレーザを第2の方向にのみコリメートし、コリメートレンズ1112によってレーザを第1の方向にコリメートして、グレーティングに入射させることによって、DDLユニット11uより、2つの円形のビームスポットLBSを有するレーザが出力される。
 図6,図9~図11に示す構成によれば、光ファイバの列を第2の方向に積み重ねることによって、マルチビームを実現している。DDLユニット11uは1つであるので、安価にマルチビームを実現でき、一つ一つのビームスポットのパワーを下げることもない。
 光ファイバの列を積み重ねる数をさらに多くしてもよい。図12の(a)は、光ファイバの列を4段に積み重ねた状態を断面図で示している。図12の(a)は、列方向では隣接する光ファイバに隙間を設けていない。各列の光ファイバは積み重なる方向にわずかにオーバラップしている。
 光ファイバがオーバラップするとは、複数段の光ファイバの列の断面において、ある段の光ファイバの第2の方向の範囲と、第2の方向に隣接する段の光ファイバの第2の方向の範囲とが部分的に重複していることである。
 この場合、スペクトルビーム結合の結果得られるビームスポットLBSは、図12の(b)に示すように、4つの円形がわずかに重なり合った状態となる。例えば図12の(a)に下から1列目と3列目を、レーザを射出させないダミーファイバとすると、図12の(c)に示すように、2つの円形が離れたビームスポットLBSとすることができる。
 図13の(a)も、光ファイバの列を4段に積み重ねた状態を断面図で示している。図13の(a)では、列方向の隣接する光ファイバに隙間を設けている。よって、各列の光ファイバは積み重なる方向に図12の(a)よりも多くオーバラップしている。
 この場合、スペクトルビーム結合の結果得られるビームスポットLBSは、図13の(b)に示すように、4つの円形が図12の(b)よりも多く重なり合った状態となる。同様に、例えば図13の(a)に下から1列目と3列目をダミーファイバとすると、図13の(c)に示すように、2つの円形が離れたビームスポットLBSとすることができる。
 図12または図13のように例えば光ファイバの一部の列をダミーファイバとすることによって、隣り合うビームが第2の方向に離れている場合には、マイクロレンズ1115に代えて、シリンドリカルレンズまたはロッドレンズを用いてもよい。ダミーファイバを用いず、第2の方向に隣り合う光ファイバ列を所定距離だけ離した場合も、シリンドリカルレンズまたはロッドレンズを用いることができる。
 図14は、隣り合うビームが第2の方向に離れており、マイクロレンズ1115に代えてシリンドリカルレンズ1116を用いた場合を示している。図14は、光ファイバの一部の列をダミーファイバとすることによって実現されていてもよい。図14は、図10と同様、DDLユニット11uを側面から見た状態を示している。
 図15に示すように、シリンドリカルレンズ1116は、第1の方向の光ファイバ列に対応した長さに形成されている。
 図6,図9~図11に示すマイクロレンズ1115及びコリメートレンズ1112を用いる構成に代えて、図16~図18に示す構成とすることも可能である。図16~図18において、図3または図6,図9~図11と同一部分には同一符号を付し、その説明を省略することがある。
 図16~図18において、ファイバアレイ1111の光ファイバ列111f1及び111f2より射出したそれぞれのレーザは、コリメートレンズ1102によって第1及び第2の方向それぞれにコリメートされる。図16~図18に示す構成では、コリメートレンズ1102がコリメータを構成する。
 コリメートレンズ1102より射出されたそれぞれのレーザは、グレーティング1103に互いに異なる角度で入射して方向が曲げられて、光軸調整用レンズ1117に入射される。グレーティング1103より射出したそれぞれのビームはコリメート光ではあるものの、グレーティング1103は第2の方向のビームの光軸を拡散させる。光軸調整用レンズ1117は、入射したビームの第2の方向の光軸を平行とし、かつ、ビームを集光させる。
 光軸調整用レンズ1117より射出したそれぞれのビームは、部分反射ミラー1104を介して射出する。部分反射ミラー1104は、入射したビームの光軸を拡散させる。
 本実施形態においては、光ファイバを第1の方向及び第2の方向に配列させたが、複数組におけるそれぞれの組のレーザダイオードより射出されるレーザのビームが第1の方向に配列し、複数組のレーザダイオードより射出されるレーザのビームが第2の方向に配列していればよい。
 光ファイバを配列させるのではなく、導波路を配列させてもよい。レーザダイオードモジュールを配列させることによって、レーザのビームが配列するように構成してもよい。面発光レーザ(VCSEL)を配列させてもよい。半導体レーザ発振器が、射出するレーザによって形成されるビームスポットが配列してマルチビームを実現するような任意の構成を有すればよい。
 図19及び図20を用いて、VCSELを用いた場合の構成を具体的に説明する。VCSELを用いた場合には、図19に示すように、レーザダイオードモジュール11mと、光ファイバ11f11~11fn1及び11f12~11fn2と、ファイバアレイ1111との全体が面発光レーザアレイ(VCSELアレイ)1118に置換される。
 図19において、マイクロレンズ1115は図9におけるそれとは異なり、光ファイバ列111f1及び111f2に対応してそれぞれ一列に構成されており、第2の方向に並べられている。便宜上、図9のマイクロレンズ1115と図19のマイクロレンズ1115を同じ符号としている。図19において、その他の部分は図9と同一の構成であり、説明を省略する。
 図19に示す例では、VCSELアレイ1118は、ビートシンク118h上に、複数のVCSEL118vを第1の方向に配列して組とし、VCSEL118vの組を第2の方向に2列配列させている。VCSEL118vの組を第2の方向に3列以上配列させてもよい。
 図16においても、レーザダイオードモジュール11mと、光ファイバ11f11~11fn1及び11f12~11fn2と、ファイバアレイ1111との全体をVCSELアレイ1118に置換した構成とすることができる。
 図19に示すVCSELアレイ1118は、図20に示すような構成であってもよい。図20に示す例では、第1の方向に配列したVCSEL118vの隣接するVCSEL118v間に、1つのVCSEL118vが入る間隔を設けている。図20の上側のVCSEL118vの組と下側のVCSEL118vの組とが、第2の方向にオーバラップした状態で配列されている。
 VCSELアレイ1118を図20のように構成すると、ビームスポットLBSを、2つの円形が第2の方向に重なり合った状態とすることができる。
 図21及び図22を用いて、マルチビームの使い方の一例を説明する。図21は、マルチビームをCW(連続発振)溶接またはCW切断に用いた場合、図22は図3に示す1つの円形のビームスポットLBSである単一ビームをパルス溶接に用いた場合を示している。
 パルス溶接の場合には、単一ビームのビームスポットS1のレーザピークパワーを、時刻t1,t2,t3で図22に示すように制御することができる。
 ビームスポットS1のレーザピークパワーを図22に示すように制御すると、次のような効果を得ることができる。被加工材Wを予め温めてから融点に達する熱量を与えて被加工材Wを急速に加熱することによって、被加工材Wの溶融時間を短くすることができる。冷却時に被加工材Wに弱い熱量を与えて、溶融後にゆっくりと冷却させることができる。
 CW溶接またはCW切断の場合には、図22に示すような時間方向のレーザピークパワーの制御を行うことはできない。
 そこで、図21に示すように、ビームスポットS1~S3のマルチビームを例にすると、DDLユニット11uは次のようにレーザピークパワーを制御する。DDLユニット11uは、被加工材W上の位置P1,P3に照射されるビームスポットS1,S3ではレーザピークパワーを小さく、被加工材W上の位置P2に照射されるビームスポットS2ではレーザピークパワーを大きくする。
 被加工材Wの加工の進行に伴って、被加工材W上にビームスポットS1~S3が照射される位置は実線の矢印の方向に移動したとする。レーザピークパワーが小さいビームスポットS1で温められた位置P1には、レーザピークパワーが大きいビームスポットS2が照射されるので、被加工材Wを急速に加熱することができる。
 被加工材Wの位置P1が溶融した後、レーザピークパワーが小さいビームスポットS3が照射されるので、被加工材Wはゆっくりと冷却されることになる。
 このように、マルチビームを用いると、CW溶接またはCW切断の場合でも、パルス溶接と同様の温度プロファイルで加工を制御することができる。CW溶接またはCW切断で図21のような温度プロファイルで加工すると、切断カーフを小さくすることが期待できる。
 本実施形態は、複数組のレーザダイオードが組ごとに出力制御されていて、出力の異なるマルチビームを形成することができる。
 以上説明したマルチビームは、矩形ビームを生成するために用いることもできる。図23において、マルチビームのレーザ201は、フォーカスレンズ202に入射して集光される。レーザ201は、3つの円形のビームスポットが重なり合った状態である。レーザ201は、コリメート光である。
 フォーカスレンズ202で集光されて射出したレーザは、矩形ファイバ203へと入射される。図24に示すように、矩形ファイバ203は、概略的に、レーザを伝送させる断面矩形状のコア2031と、コア2031を覆うクラッド2032と、クラッド2032を覆う外被2033とを有して構成される。
 マルチビームのレーザ201を矩形ファイバ203によって伝送させると、図25に示すような矩形ビーム204を、効率よく高出力で生成することができる。
 本発明は以上説明した本実施形態に限定されるものではなく、本発明の要旨を逸脱しない範囲において種々変更可能である。
 本発明は、半導体レーザ発振器によってマルチビームのレーザを射出する際に利用できる。

Claims (8)

  1.  複数のレーザダイオードを1組とした複数組のレーザダイオードと、
     前記複数組のレーザダイオードそれぞれに接続され、前記レーザダイオードより射出されたレーザを伝送する複数組の光ファイバと、
     を備え、
     前記光ファイバは、少なくとも前記光ファイバの出力端で、前記複数組におけるそれぞれの組で第1の方向に配列し、前記複数組が前記第1の方向及び前記レーザの進行方向と交差する第2の方向に配列しており、
     前記複数組の光ファイバより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを平行光化するコリメータと、
     前記レーザダイオードより射出されたレーザを共振させる外部共振器ミラーと、
     前記外部共振器ミラーの間に配置され、前記コリメータより射出されたレーザをスペクトルビーム結合させるグレーティングと、
     をさらに備え、
     前記コリメータは、前記複数組の光ファイバより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを前記グレーティングに互いに異なる角度で入射させる
     ことを特徴とする半導体レーザ発振器。
  2.  前記コリメータは、
     前記複数組の光ファイバより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを前記第2の方向のみにコリメートするマイクロレンズと、
     前記マイクロレンズより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを前記第1の方向のみにコリメートするコリメートレンズと、
     を有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の半導体レーザ発振器。
  3.  前記コリメータは、前記複数組の光ファイバより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを前記第1及び第2の方向にコリメートするコリメートレンズであり、
     前記外部共振器ミラーの間に配置され、前記グレーティングより射出されたレーザの光軸を調整する光軸調整用レンズをさらに備える
     ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の半導体レーザ発振器。
  4.  前記光ファイバは、前記複数組が前記第2の方向にオーバラップするように積み重ねられていることを特徴とする請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載の半導体レーザ発振器。
  5.  前記複数組のレーザダイオードが組ごとに出力制御され、出力の異なるマルチビームを形成するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の半導体レーザ発振器。
  6.  複数の面発光レーザが第1の方向に配列して組とされ、前記面発光レーザの複数の組が前記第1の方向及び射出されるレーザの進行方向と交差する第2の方向に配列した面発光レーザアレイと、
     前記面発光レーザアレイより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを平行光化するコリメータと、
     前記面発光レーザより射出されたレーザを共振させる外部共振器ミラーと、
     前記外部共振器ミラーの間に配置され、前記コリメータより射出されたレーザをスペクトルビーム結合させるグレーティングと、
     を備え、
     前記コリメータは、前記面発光レーザアレイより射出されたそれぞれのレーザを前記グレーティングに互いに異なる角度で入射させる
     ことを特徴とする半導体レーザ発振器。
  7.  前記面発光レーザアレイにおける前記面発光レーザの組は、前記第2の方向にオーバラップするように配列されていることを特徴とする請求項6記載の半導体レーザ発振器。
  8.  前記面発光レーザの組は組ごとに出力制御され、出力の異なるマルチビームを形成するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項6または7に記載の半導体レーザ発振器。
