Abstract

A printhead module includes at least one row of printhead nozzles. Each row includes at least one displaced row portion. The displacement of the row portion includes a component in a direction normal to that of a pagewidth to be printed.

Claims (10)

1. A printhead module capable of printing a maximum of n channels of print data, each channel being associated with rows of printing nozzles of the printhead module, the printhead module being configurable into: a first mode, 5 in which the printhead module is configured to receive print data for a first number of the channels; and a second mode, in which the printhead module is configured to receive print data for a second number of the channels less than the first number and dummy data for a portion of each nozzle row associated with the remaining number of the channels, wherein the first number is less than n. 10
2. A printhead module according to claim 1, configurable into at least one other mode, in which the printhead module is configured to receive print data for a corresponding number of print channels other than the first and second numbers.
3. A printhead module according to claim 1, wherein n is 4 and the second number is less than 4. 15
4. A printhead module according to claim 1, wherein n is 5 and the second number is less than 5.
5. A printhead module according to claim 1, wherein n is 6 and the second number is less than 6. 20
6. A printhead module according to claim 5, wherein the second number is 3 or 4.
7. A printhead module according to claim 1, wherein the selected mode is selected based on the contents of a memory associated with the printhead module. 25
8. A printhead module according to claim 7, wherein the memory is a register.
9. A printhead module according to claim 7, wherein the register is on an integrated circuit, and wherein the integrated circuit and the printhead module are mounted to a print engine. 30
