Abstract

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USING SIMULATION RELOAD TO OPTIMIZE STAPLE FORMATION A method for testing a powered surgical instrument (10) having a processor (202), a memory (208) storing a tissue compression program, a reload (500), a motor (212), and a sensor (214), the method comprising: executing a simulation program stored in the memory (208); firing the powered surgical instrument (10) while executing the simulation program; measuring a current draw on the motor (212) as the powered surgical instrument (10) is firing on a tissue having a nominal thickness firing; and adjusting a programming code coefficient of the tissue compression program based on the measured current draw.
