Abstract

Novel pharmaceutical compositions for ophthalmic use. The invention especially concerns ophthalmic compositions for use by instillation characterized in that they contain an active ingredient selected from the group consisting of $g(b) blocking agents, ocular anti-hypertension agents, healing agents, anti-allergic agents, anti-bacterial agents, fungicide agents and anti-viral agents as well as prodrugs or their possible biological precursors, in combination with a gelling acrylic acid polymer and a base agent to obtain a fluid aqueous gel having a pH of between 6.5 and 8. The compositions according to the invention can be used to treat various pathological ocular conditions.
