Abstract

1. An apparatus for irradiating biological tissue with light to render visible bodies contained therein, comprising a transparent work plate (2, 29) and at least one artificial light source (5) which is arranged under the work plate (2, 29) and whose light focused by an optical system (1), is directed on to the work plate (2, 29), characterised in that the light is focused so that the virtual focal point (31) is situated at a distance (F) above the surface of the work plate (2, 29), in that a light-diffusing surface (28) is disposed at a distance (A) below the surface of the work plate (2, 29) and in that the light source (5) is so arranged and screened that no direct light reaches the work plate (2, 29).
