r Complete Specification for the invention entitled: MULTI-PURPOSE RIFLE SYSTEM The following statement is a full description of this invention including the best method of performing it known to me:- ~i
IA
The present invention relates to a rifle.
Traditionally a rifle includes a long stock, most commonly made of walnut, in which case the contribution of the wooden stock to the manufacture and appearance of the rifle is important. Rifles are also known in which the stock is made of a manufactured material. Evident advantages of a stock of manufactured material are good fitting of the stock on the iron components, good mechanical strength, good resistance to weather phenomena, which means that even when wet the stock is not twisted, thereby affecting the accuracy of the rifle. It mal' be considered a drawback of the stocks of manufactured material that they are unpleasant when the rifle is handled. From the US Patents 4,027,416 3,766,677, 3,680,241 and GB Patents 1,210,679, 1,136,*62, and 1,117,882 rifles are known in which a separate middle stock piece is used. To the middle stock piece, the rear stock can be attached by means of screws, and so also the front stock, likewise by means of screws.
The object of the present invention is to provide a rifle which can be modified for different purposes.
According to the invention there is provided a rifle comprising: a multi-purpose stock, said stock including a front stock portion detachably connectable to a middle stock portion, and a rear stock portion detachable connectable to said middle stock portion, said middle stock portion provided with means for locating said front and rear portions on said middle stock portion, wherein said front stock portion is selectable from a plurality of different front stock portions and said rear stock portion is selectable from a plurality of different rear stock portions, whereby, in use, the rifle can be modified to suit a selected purpose.
Thus around the middle stock, a rifle suitable for different purposes can be assembled. For example, it is possible to form a hunting rifle or a target-shooting rifle. The middle stock is provided with beddings or fitting parts for locating B /17parts optionally attachable to the said stock. The said
A<
h~ j I-----UcUv 2 optionally attachable parts include the rear stock, the front stock, and the breech of the rifle, as well as the trigger guard and the magazine of the rifle. The fitting and bedding parts on the middle frame are adapted for the said optionally attachable parts, i.e. the said fitting portions on the optionally attachable parts are of equivalent sort.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the middle stock of the rifle is composed of material, preferably of plastic material. In a second embodiment, the middle frame is made of aluminium. All the precise machinings will be in the area of the said r 'ddle stock, such as the fitting of the breech and of the recoil checks, guides for the magazine, and the trigger guard.
The stock at the rear of the weapon can be attached by means of a bolt passing through the stock of the rifle, or by means of 15 some other, corresponding attachment. The front stock is attached to the middle frame of the weapon advantageously by means of screws.
In the following, the invention will be described in detail with reference to some preferred embodiments of the invention shown in the figures in the accompanying drawings, it is understood the invention is, however, not supposed to be confined to the said embodiments alone.
Figure 1 is a side view of a rifle in accordance with the invention, the rear stock being shown partly in section so as to illustrate the central fastening of the rear stock.
