4 L Printed by C. J. THOMPSON, Commonwealth Government Printer, Canberra ~I L CASTING BAIT AND BERZY DISPENSING DEVICE.
This invention relates to a bait and berly dispensing container assembly, comprised of five sections.A bait housing container section with any number, but preferably two casting brackets, a berly housing container r.,Action, which has a line guide through the centre,a sinker holding container section with a clip on lid, which may be used as a slide section and a attachable float section, which has a line guide through the centre, whereby all sections of the assembly will clip on and hold fast to form S a rocket shaped device.
e.* Casting a baited fishing hook, namely whereby the bait is of a soft consistency, has allways been a problem, due to the bait being dislodged from the fishing hook during a cast,or on impact of the waters surface,as the baited hook impacts on the waters surfacelit is more likely to dislodge due to the considerable force and impossible to observe.
Once a baited hook is successfully placed in the water,it will only attract fish within a limited radius,as the use of berly has been impossible, due to the great distance from the shore.
Some of these problems have been partly alleviated by other 'o known devices, however by casting such a device,it is only partly protecting a baited hook,by being open ended. It can only be casted in a way, whereby the narrow line protruding part of it,is pointed in the direction of a cast, therefore turning over in midair and pointing the open end of the device towards 'the direction of cast and creating too much drag, therefore not reaching its maximum distance.
I- 2.
The objects of this invention are,to alleviate some or all of the problems refered to above,or others associated with the subject of angling,by providing a device that will hold in its bait dispensing container section,a baited hook whereby the bait may be of any shape or consistency,as the bait housing container section is being fully enclosed and therefore preventing the bait being dislodged during a cast, impact on the waters surface or by immercing.
A device that will gently dispense a baited fishing hook by 1o its bait housing container section after impact on the waters surface and then with its berly housing container section, supported by an attachable float section, rise to the surface and dispense the berly.
A device which being fully enclosed and streamlined by its rocket shape, may be with the help of the casting brackets cased in a way that it will not turn over in midair, therefore minimising the drag and casted to a maximum distance.
A device that has its container sections, slide section and float section attachable and interchangeable to suit a variation of conditions, whereby the sinker container section is dimensioned to house a conventional sinker of choice.
A assembly of container sections with a slide section and a float section, able to convert by interchanging some or all of the sections.
further descriptions of the invention, are as follows.- 3.
A bait and berly dispensing container assembly, comprised of five sections, namely a bait housing container section,a berly housing container section,a sinker housing container section, a slide section and a float section which will, clipped together form a rocket shape device and may be casted with the help of a fishing rod.
All five sections of the device are refered to in the specification and recognized in the drawings as sections A ,B ,0C D and E.
*Io Section A,being a cylindrical shaped bait housing container, which may be made of a plastic material with any number, but preferably two casting brackets on the surface of one end and a radial groove formed on the inside of the opposing end as to clip on and hold fast a berly housing container section.
5 The bait housing container section is being dimensioned to house a baited fishing hook.
Section B, being a cylindrical shaped berly housing container, which may be made of a plastic material and has a line guide located in the centre, consisting of a narrow plastic tube,a .o radial groove formed on the inside of one end, whereby the outside of the opposing end is being shaped as to clip on to the bait housing container section, with the bottom part of the berly housing container section being closed but perforated'to allow the berly to dispense after the bait has been dislodged from the bait housing container section.
4.
Section 0, being a cone shaped sinker housing container, which may be made of a plastic material and has a small hole through the centre of the pointed end, whereby the open end having a radial groove formed on the inside,to clip onto a slide section,or a float section only.
Section D, being a cylindrical shaped slide, which may be made of a plastic material. The outside of one end of the slide section is being shaped as to clip onto the sinker housing container section to hold fast a sinker of choice, whereby the opposing end being forked as to partly insert into the bait housing container section, sufficiently loose as S to be able to slide out through gravitational pull of the sinker and dislodge the baited fishing hook after impact on the waters surface. The inside of the slide section is being dome shaped as to increase the capacity of the sinker housing container section. The dome shaped part of the slide section has a lug with a small opening through which a fishing line may run.
Section E, being a float which may be made of any material 8***2o such as plastic foam which has sufficient buoyancy to support the device in the water. The float section is shaped on the outside of one end,as to clip onto the berly housing container section, the bait housing container section or the sinker housing container section, whereby the same end is being dome shaped on the inside as to increase the capacity of the sinker housing container section, when clipped directly onto it,to form a conventional float, with a sinker of choice.
i The invention will now be described in more detail by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings which illustrate one embodiment of the invention in which; Fig. 1 shows a section through the embodiment of casting bait and berly dispensing device, whereby all of the five sections of the device are being clipped together; Fig. 2 shows a cross section of the bait housing container section A, with two casting brackets; Fig. 3 shows a cross section of -the berly housing container C..section B,which has a line guide through the centre, em Cbeing a plastic tube; Fig. 4 shows a cross section of the sinker housing container section 0, sees 15 Fig. 5 shows a cross section of the slide section Dbeing o C.:.dome shaped on the inside with lug and small opening through which a fishing line may run; Fig. 6 shows a cross section of the float section E,which has a line guide through the centrebeing a narrow plastic •*so .2o tube; o. Fig. 7 shows a cross section of the sinker container section C, and the slide section Dbeing clipped together containing a sinker; Fig. 8 shows a cross section of the float section E and the sinker housing container section C, being clipped togethercontaining a sinker; Pig. 9 shows a cross section of the casting bait and berly dispensing device, being attached to a fishing line; Pig. lo illustrating the device being hooked onto a brass ring which is being attached to a fishing line near the tip of the fishing rod and thereby ready to be casted in a conventional way; Fig. 11 shows the casting bait and berly dispensing device, dispensing berly after the slide and sinker housing container sections have dislodged the baited hook :o through gravitational pull,as all parts of the device being suspended from the float section.
5 Attaching the casting bait and berly dispensing device to the end of a fishing line, which is coming from the fishing rod and real,is being illustrated in (Fig. 9,)vhereby the end of the fishing line is being inserted into the line guide 1 of the float section E;then passes through the line guide 2 of the berly housing container section B,the centre of the bait housing con- 5•5e tainer section A and then through the small opening of the lug 5,located on the dome shaped part of the slide section,D.
•o•S 0 After attaching a baited hook 4 to the end of the fishing line, a line stop 5 of any kind, may be fitted to the fishing line just behind the small opening 3 of the lug 7 as to provide a suitable distance between the sinker housing container section C and the baited fishing hook 4.
After inserting a suitable sinker 6 into the sinker housing container section C,the slide section D is then being clipped onto as in(Pig. 7),to hold fast a sinker of choice.

The baited fishing hook 4 is then being inserted into the bait housing container section A,followed by all of the remaining fishing line, located between the baited fishing hook 4 and the line stop The slide section D being clipped onto the sinker housing container section C,may then be inserted into the bait housing container section A,preventing any part of the fishing line or bait,to obstruct the slide section D from sliding out smoothly by gravitational pull after entering the water.
1o The berly housing container section B, may then be clipped onto the bait housing container section A and filld with of a suitable mixture of berly.
*The float section E,may thenbe clipped onto the open end of the berly housing container section,B and thereby having all sections of the device joined and ready to be casted.
Illustrated in(Fig.lo) is a brass ring 8 being attached to the fishing line, just before the tip of the fishing rod 9 as to allow any one of the casting brackets lo,which are located on the outside of the bait housing container section A to be, e2o hooked onto the brass ring 8 and casted in this way.
*e As the device enters the water,(see Fig.11 it will be immerced just below the surface and supported by the attached float section E,which is being partly exposed on the top of the water surface 11.
The slide section D,attached to the sinker container section 0 will then slide out of the bait housing container section A, by gravitational pull of the sinker housing container section 0 thereby dislodging the baited fishing hook 4 and allowing the berly 12 to dispense through the empty bait housing con- S tainer section A
