The invention can be used ct in high- -voltage power transmission lines.
An increasing use of power transmission lines, as well as the ever growing voltages and power transmitted impose high demands on the reliability arnd fail-safe operation of high-voltage suspension insulators.
There are known high-voltage suspension insulators V.D.Abramov and M.V.Khomyakov "Ekspluatatsia izolyatorov vysokogo napryazhenia", in Russian, 1976, the Energia Publishers, Moscow, p.30; SU, A, 1,967,654) I o comprising coaxially arranged v insulating element I including a head with a plate, an insulator cap and a rod interconnectedby a bond.
So*. The cap and insulating element are positioned so cor that at a location where the head extends into the 20 plate an air clearance is formed normally filled with a fibrous material to reduce radio-frequency interference. This clearance is provided to prevent the ,insulating element from contacting the insulator cap, f "I and avoid damage thereof caued by a difference in-.
*0,I coefficients of linear expansion between the materi- 4 ale of the cap and insulating element.
,However, such insulators are susceptible to skewing of tha insulator cap relative to the head of L^y Deputy director Signature of Declarant(s) SFP3 To: The Commissioner of Patents1/8 2the insulating element during assembly, which can affect the mechanical strength of the insulator, There Is also known a high-voltage suspension insulator SU, A, 1,512,583) comprising a coaxially arranged insulating element including a head and a plate made as an Integral unit, an insulator cap embracing the head, a rod secured inside the head, and an annular spacer fabricated from an elastic material and having the form of a flat washer disposed at the location where the head extends Into the plate, the head of the insulating element being connected to the rod and cap by a bond.
This construction of the insulator Is also disadvantageous due to susceptibility of the insulator cap to skewing and radial displacement relative to the head of the insulating element. This disadvantage results 0000, in reduced mechanical strength of the high-voltage suspension insulator and makes the insulator less reliable in operation.
0 It is the object of the present Invention to overcome or -substantially ameliorate the above disadvantages, There Is disclosed herein a high-voltage suspension insulator comprising: a coaxially arranged insulating element comprising a head portion Integrated with a plate portion, a cap embracing the head portion, a rod secured within the head portion, an annular spacer formed of an elastic material and positioned around the transition region of the insulating element between the head portion and the plate portion, the head portion being bonded to the rod and to the cap, the annular spacer comprising a first peripheral surface shaped to conform to the contour of the outer peripheral surface of said transition region &,nd the opposing second perlpheral surface shaped to oconform to the contour of the peripheral opening region of said tap, F- -55i4ir^l i_ 3 Depending on the elastic properties of the material of the annular spacer and for facilitating the mounting of the annular spacer on the head of the insulating element, it Is desirable that the top part of the annular spacer be provided with at least three radial grooves spaced equidistantly about its perimeter.
An Increase in the mechanical strength attained through this invention ensures a more fail-safe operation and extends the service life of high-voltage suspension insulators.
A preferred form of the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein: 0 0 00 0 0 0 9o O0 0 0 00 O c0 0 9 000 0 0 0 0 09 O 99 OQ900 0909 99 9 64406Q i 9 0 4 68

-4- Fig. 1 illustrates construction of a high-voltage suspension insulator, according to the invention; and FiLg. 2 shows a modified form of an annular spacer of the proposed high-voltage suspension insulator.
A high-voltage suspension insulator comprises ar:,'anged coaxially an insulating element 1 (F'ig. 1) integrating a head 2 and a plate 3, a cap 4 embracing the head 2, a rod 5 secured inside the head 2, and a bond 6. An annular spacer 7 of an elastic material is provided at the location where the head 2 extends into the plate 3. The shape of an inner surface 8 of the annular spacer 7 conforms to the corresponding 0 0a p o f t e o t r s r a eo0t e p r i n o hn 0 0 0th shape of he outer surace of the atinua ofpthe r 7n 00 0 suotin elemhen 1a contacting therewith.a h oa tion Therpthehed 2 eote sptoteso plate3lawhrea the ashapbed oin ote rae fown ofner The annular sae spcr7ons torst shaed oft the inead surface oflthed portion pofn hr the pd 4 cotati xtedewinthlte3 A0 tero de tthhetoso the inuain lm nI a ispasere 7y is hasseble in the follroin maner Th annflear t the bond 6 until the latter is brought in contact with the annular spacer 7, whereas the rod 5 is fitted inside the interior of the head 2 filled with the bond 6.
Provision in the proposed high-voltage insulator of the annular spacer 7 positioned between the cap 4 and insulating element 1 facilitates centering of the cap 4, as well as prevents its displacement and skewing.
This, in turn, improves the mechanical strength characteristics of high-voltage insulators and makes them more reliable in operation.
Radial grooves 10 provided in the annular spacer 7 (Fig. 2) facilitate mounting this spacer 7 on the head 2 and allows to save the material of the spacer 7.
