1 609 39 COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1952 This document contains thc'e amendments made under Section 49 and is correct for printing 1I T-O..As S -V2 1, TO1 0 Ea S (Patent Application Nos. 9709 and 5985) COMPLETE SPECIFICATION FOR THE INVENTION ENTITLED:- "HEALTH INDUCING DEVICE AND METHOD" The following statement is full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it know to me/us:rr This invention relates to a method of and devices for enhancing personal potential. Hereinafter the expression "enhancing personal potential: includes within its meaning the obtainance, promotion and maintenance of good health and the realization of the individual's optimal mental and/or physical performance.
Mineral and magnetic therapy have long been utilized in alternative medicine for the relief of pain and the promotion of good health. Different minerals are attributed with different effects on the body. Magnetic devices are utilized to interact with the body and many followers of these teachings wear magnetic jewellery in order to stimulate the body and promote good health.
It is also well known from alternative medicine and modern studies that the acupuncture meridians of the body, containing the acupuncture sites, may by the practice of acupuncture and moxibustion enhance personal potential.
A disadvantage of the known methods of magnetic and mineral therapy is that they tend to be very specific for a particular ailment or object. Similarly, the treatment of specific acupuncture sites by acupuncture or moxibustion results in generally specific treatments or at least treatment of specific areas of the body.
The present invention aims to provide an improved method of and devices for enhancing personal potential both mentally and physically. Other objects and advantages of this invention will hereinafter become apparent.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, this invention -rrnaa~- tn*aarrna~ in one aspect resides broadly in a personal potential enhancing device including: a disc shaped magnet having a diameter of between fifteen and seventy millimeters, a magnetic strength of between 500 and 2000 gauss, and a north-south magnetic axis coincident with the disc axis, and a disc shaped, gold or gold-plated housing supporting said magnet, wherein said magnet is located in said housing such that the north-south magnetic axis thereof is coincident with the axis of said housing and wherein said housing includes identifying means for identifying the face of the housing to be placed against the body.
In another aspect this invention resides broadly in a method of therapeutic treatment including:providing a personal potential enhancing device as herein defined; securing said device against the body of a person receiving treatment with a face of said housing overlying the body surface, and maintaining said device against the body for predetermined periods of time.
Another form of device having similar purposes to those described herein is described and claimed in my copending application 60847/90.
In use the personal potential enhancing device is advantageously worn against the body over the navel whereby it may energise the source of all acupuncture meridians which emanate from the navel to balance or stimulate those meridians from or at their source. For this purpose the diameter of the device is advantageously chosen so that it will neither loosely enter the navel cavity so as to pivot and cause the magnetic axis to become significantly misaligned with respect to said lines of meridian, nor extend significantly beyond the source of the meridians.
It is known in conventional magneto-therapeutic devices that a wide range of magnetic strengths will produce varying results of greater or lesser beneficial effect. When the personal potential enhancing device of this invention is placed against a portion of the body surface, the combined mineral-magnetic therapy is advantageously effected with the strength of the magnet between 500 and 2000 gauss as stated above.
In order that this invention may be readily understood and put into practical effect, reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings which illustrate typical embodiments of the invention, and wherein:- FIGS. 1 and 2 are perspective views of a body stimulating device according to this invention.
As shown in FIG. 1, the body stimulating device 10 is disc-like and comprises an outer cylindrical casing 11 forming of gold or gold plated material and supporting a magnet therein arranged with its north/south magnetic axis coincident with the axis of the cylindrical casing 11. One end face 12 of the device 10 is marked with an as shown to indicate the skin contact side of the device and/or the south seeking pole end while the other end face 13 is plain.
4 -1$ The magnet enclosed within the housing 11 may be formed of any suitable material and it has a magnetic strength of seven hundred gauss. For optimum results the magnetic strength is maintained between six hundred and ninety-three to seven hundred and seven gauss. However beneficial effects may be obtained with different magnetic strengths and thus the magnetic strength may be varied as desired and suitably may be in the range of six hundred to eight hundred gauss. Preferably however the magnetic strength does not exceed a strength of two thousand gauss or drop below a minimum of five hundred gauss.
In use, the marked face 12 is worn against the body over the navel whereby it may energise the source of all acupuncture meridians which emanate from the navel so that the magnetic forces tend to balance or stimulate those meridians from or at their source. For this purpose the diameter of the pendant device 10 is sufficiently large so that it will not enter the navel cavity whereby it will not pivot and cause the magnetic axis to become significantly misaligned with respect to said lines of meridian. Of course an insertable device may be utilised, complete with mounting means capable of maintaining operative alignment of the device within the navel.
The pendant 10 has a diameter of fifteen millimeters such that it will overlie the periphery of the navel but this could be increased up to seventy millimeters if desired. Furthermore the shape of the device 10 may be varied. It may be rectangular or hexagonal or irregular shaped if desired.

the best mineral for the body and gold stimulates the triple warmer meridian in acupuncture. The pendant 10 when supported in this position across the navel may also nourish the jing or prenatal energy. It may improve breathing and blood circulation and it may ease stiffness in joints.
The casing 11 may be attached to the user's body by an adhesive bandage or it may be supported thereon by a strap or bandage extending about the body or otherwise as desired.
Furthermore, depending upon the condition being treated, the device 10 may be used singly or in a stack of devices by or in combination with similar or other devices and with the north and south seeking poles alternatively engaged against the skin to provide a balanced programme for increasing personal wellbeing.
While the above relates to use of devices for nourishing structural integrity, and may be useful, for example, for pain relief, spinal alignment and back balancing, the devices may also be used to facilitate enhanced personal a!hievement. For this purpose devices are worn in reverse, i.e. with their north unmarked face against the skin and over the navel. Such use may lead to increased stamina, muscle strength and concentration.
The device 10 may also be worn adjacent the manubrium below the sternal notch and in line with the second rib so as to stimulate the thymus gland. For this purpose the pendant may be supported by a necklace or an adhesive bandage in its selected position and with the marked end face 12 against the skin. Other body locations may also be used advantageously.
The devices described above have been used to treat ailments .narrmrra~ and to enhance personal potential and in this respect typical treatments which have been successful are given in the following examples:- Example 1 A patient suffering from "Cold Sores" began showing two small blisters. The magnetic device was worn over the navel and they immediately softened. These sores would usually last three or four days, but after treatment they healed very quickly.
Example 2 A patient suffering from chronic back pains was treated by wearing a magnetic device over the navel and noticed a decline in the back pain.
Claims (7)
1. A personal potential enhancing device for wearing on or about the human body including:- a disc shaped magnet having a diameter of between fifteen and seventy millimeters, a magnetic strength of between 500 and 2000 gauss, and a north-south magnetic axis coincident with the disc axis, and a disc shaped, gold or gold-plated housing supporting said magnet, wherein said magnet is located in said housing such that the north-south magnetic axis thereof is coincident with the axis of said housing and wherein said housing includes identifying means for identifying the face of the housing to be placed against the body.
2. A personal potential enhancing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the magnetic strength of said magnet is between 600 and 800 gauss.
3. A personal potential enhancing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the magnetic strength of said magnet is between 693 and 707 gauss.
4. A personal potential enhancing devices substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
A method of therapeutic treatment including:- K<A.roz 'Vi 0 NJ1 9 providing a device as defined in any one of claims 1 to 4; securing said device against the body of a person receiving treatment with a face of said housing overlying the body surface, and maintaining said device against the body for predetermined periods of Lime.
6. A method of therapeutic treatment as claimed in claim wherein said device is positioned to overlie the navel to stimulate the acupuncture meridians.
7. A method of therapeutic treatment as claimed in claim wherein said device is positioned adjacent the manibrium below the sternal notch and in line with the second rib to stimulate the thymus gland.
