ABSTRACT
Ventilation and cooling device for a cartridge supporting at least two emitters in particular UV emitters, each of the emitters being in the form of a rod arranged substantially at the focal point of a reflector which consists of two longitudinal reflective walls arranged facing each other and, of a reflecting longitudinal shield (6) partially masking the gap joining two walls of a same reflector the neighbouring walls of two adjacent reflectors meeting in a V-shaped sector The device comprising one or more perforated cooling air-distribution tubes connected at their respective ends by inclined plates forming collectors, said tube or tubes being substantially parallel to the emitting rod or rods and being arranged outside the reflectors with their axes being substantially in the same plane as the emitting rods.
005c -1A- The subject of the present invention is a ventilation and cooling device for a cartridge supporting at least two emitters, in particular a UV emitter, each of the emitters being in the form of a rod arranged substantially a.t the focal point of a reflector consisting, of two longitudinal reflective walls arranged facing each other and, of a longitudinal reflecting shield partially maskitri the gap joining two walls of a same reflector, the neighboring walls of two adjacent reflectors meeting in a V-shaped section.
Cartridges of this type are already known and have, for example, formed the subject of the granted Patent EP 0.127,496 filed by the applicant.
Cartridges of this type generally have a thickness close to 200 mm.
The ventilation is ensured by a traditional fan arranged at the back of the cartridge.
for certain specific applications, such as, for example, paper or fabric printing driers, the cartridges can not have a thickness greater than approximately 65 mm. Such a thickness precludes the use of a fan which would at most cool only a small part of the elements of the cartridge.
It Is therefore necessary to provide a specific ventilation and 20 cooling device for cartridges supporting UV emitters which enables the latter to be used normally.
According to one aspect of the present invention there is disclosed a ventilation and cooling device for a cartridge supporting at least two emitters, each said emitter being in the form of a rod S 25 arranged substantially at the focal point of t corresponding reflector which consists of two longitudinal reflective walls arranged facing each other and of a longitudinal reflecting shield partially masking the gap joining two walls of said reflector, the neighboring walls of two adjacent said reflectors meeting in a V-shaped sector, said device comprising one or more perforated cooling air-distribution tubes each connected at their respective ends by inclined plates which form collectors, and said tube or tubes being substantially parallel to the emitting rods and being arranged outside the reflectors with their axes being substantially in the same plane as the emitting rods.
T HRF/1005c 41,r -2at their respective aby i Glined plates eel lectors, said tube or tubes being substat paralllel to the emitting rod or being arranged outside the ref, their axes being substantially in the same plane ac theso of the emitting rods.
It will be possible, by virtue of other modifications of the cartridges and the emitters which will be explained hereinbelow, for the ventilation to be further optimized.
The invention will be better understood from the description given below of an embodiment, given by way of 1 *000 non-limiting example and with reference to the attached drawing which is a cross-sectional view of a cartridge fac. according to the invention.
"1 The cartridge, referenced in a general manner by s -eee 4tialy comprises a frame and a cover Inside the cartridge there are housed: UV-emitting rods reflectors shields This structure is strictly identical to that in EP 0,127,496 and will not be described in further detail.
According to the invention, the ventilation and the cooling are ensured by a plurality of perforated tubes parallel to each other and parallel to the rods.
These tubes may be of any cross-section, for example square, circular, rectangular, oval, etc...
The ventilation will take place by all possible routes, namely: between the shield and the corresponding reflector in order to lap against the emitter from above; at the outer base of the reflectors which will, for this purpose, be provided with perforations, for example at the peak of the V or at the bottom of the reflector for the longitudinal lateral portions; through the cover by way of orifices provided in the latter.
-3- The function of the ventilation between the shield and the reflector is furthermore to maintain an anti-pollution pressure above the treated products.
The ventilation in the tubes will be pressurized at rates which can be adjusted for each rod.
The air for the rods comes from an inclined support plate, not shown, and is removed on the radiant face of the cartridge in the same way as at its back. The air is then collected upstream and downstream from said cartridge by conventional extraction means in order to be removed or recycled. Balancing of the flows and the pressures does, of course, take place in order to prevent any asymmetrical rise or fall in temperature.
