Abstract

A screw closure for wide-necked containers, which has a tamperproof device, comprises a lid which is placed on the neck of the container and a safety ring (2). The safety ring has locking lips (7) which engage behind a projection of the container neck when the lid (1) is in the closed position. Matching stopping cams (17) for the locking lips (7) or for the safety ring are constructed on the neck of the container at the level of the safety ring. The arrangement and shape of these matching stopping cams is such that when the screw closure is opened, the locking lips or the safety ring run over the cams, causing the safety ring to expand until it ruptures at predetermined rupture points.
