ORIGINAL
COMPLETE SPECIFICATION STANDARD PATENT %-1nvention Title: A dental laboratory -pro cedure for the accuracy of :odimensional volume and of the articulation of a -plastic denture in the c~ourse of its process.
The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best 6nthod of performing it known to me:ec~o The invention relates in general to an addition of the Australian main-invention No. 6112892 with the title as above and of the additional patent No. 81835/94 with the title as above.
More particularly it is an addition related to the matter of the complete specification of the main No. 642892,referring thereby to pages 2-3,line 25'"Also etc.. ",ending with the line 12, page 3,thereby referring to the page 16,claim 1,line 22,step,e.
Referring now to the complete specification of the main invention, page 3,line 6,b,it will be noted that the "Centrimatic type denture articulation and procedure thereto use ceramic posterior denture teeth designed functionally according to a "blade-to-surface" contact during the centric occlusion and articulation function of dentures which creates a "free centric" occlusion and articulation function to dentures when closed tdgether. (Refer to the information booklet: "How to use Centrimatic posterior teeth"-obtainable by Swissdent Corporation,U.S. A) y the term "free-centric" it means a self-centering relation of the dentures during the occlusal stand, when the denture w earerbrings the posterior teeth in contact allowing the blade of the lower posterior teeth to strike to each corresponding occlusal surface,of the upper posterior denture teeth,in a variety of places choosing thereby its own free centric occlusal stand.
Each of the lower posterior denture teeth is designed with an occlusal linear blade substantially of ceramic which during the centric occlusion of the dentures strikes to each corresponding occlusal surface, being a flat smooth surface,of the upper posterior denture teeth substantially of ceramic.
In an early stage of the existence of the "Centrimatic" posterior denture teeth and articulation thereof, the inventor has been notified that this articulation system has been discontinued.
Despite the theoretical exactness of the "Centrimatic" articulation doctrine, the inventor could easily anticipate the discontinuation of the Centrimaticl articulation application.
I
It is obvious that a blade made from ceramic could easily break, wear down or harm the tongue during the function of the dentures.
Alternatively replacing the ceramic blade by means of a metal blade insert curved or straight is not esthetical and cumbersome in its application and can wear down the antagonist ceramic tooth.
Aforesaid defect causes a problem for the application of the "Centrimatic" free-centric doctrine and partly for the application of the specification related to the main invention, page 3,line 9,c which is without al appropriate procedure to apply the proposed fit for an articulation accordingly to the "free-centric" knowledge.
Therefor the inventor estimates need to define a new method and procedure thereto to set up posterior denture teeth in free centric accordingly this knowledge.
According to the present invention and related to the main 642892 and first addition 81835/94 invention a dental procedure is provided for setting-up and applying a durable and accurate articulation accordingly a non-interfering balanced 'free-centric' occlusal bite relation to a denture complete or partial being applied to the jaw(s) of the mouth ana replica processing model(s) thereof, comprising: A- Providing and using a preformed set posterior denture teeth characterised with a cuspless occlusal masticatory surface either flat or slightly curved bordered with a conservative "round-off" shaped buccal, lingual and interproximal occlusal edges. B- Utilizing this set accordingly any desired technical steps providing an initial appropriate procedure for conservation of dimensional stability of its centric and vertical bite oral record of proposed articulation in the course of the denture(s) construction eg. accordingly the technical steps a-, of the laboratory procedure first addition invention 81835/94. C- Setting-up desired upper and lower anterior denture teeth in a non-interfering balanced protrusive anterior edge-to-edge bite stand. D- Setting-up proposed set posterior denture teeth accordingly a curved or flat occlusal plane,in a non-interfering balanced free-centric posterior occlusal edge-to-surface bite stand. F~ Therefor adapting e i-- 'r~rllli**;t l- ~~IC Ieach occlusal buccal edge of the posterior denture teeth to each anterior-posterior center/line of each occlusal masticatory surface of the corresponding occluding upper posterior denture teeth arranged respectively in a flat or curved total occlusal plane.
F- In the course of Step E,each respective tooth-axis of thwer posterior denture teeth respectively is inclined slightly lingualwards. G- In the course of Steps D,E,F creating thereof a continuous adjacent curved or linear bucally-occlusal 'round-off' edge with a buccal course accordingly a natural individual buccal tooth-arch quadrant. H- In the course of Steps D,E,F,G, setting the lingual occlusal edge of the lower posterior denture teeth respectively without occlusal contact relative to the opposed occlusal surface of the occluding upper denture teeth respecti.
vely. Finally the posterior denture teeth may be made of a conservative ceramic or plastic. The articulation of the Step D may be set accordingly a variation of setting-ups using means such as a horizontally leveled occlusal guide -flat or .curved- Ssuch means being and shrink-free wax or plastic medium,Thereby\used accordingly any desired manner conserving the dimensional stability of its centric and vertically oral bite record of the articulation,in S the course of the denture construction.
A particular embodiment of the invention will now be described clarifying the development of the technique a S steps used accordingly/new method and laboratory procedure thereto in order to obtain proposed articulation of the main invention 642892 in exact fit according to a "free-centric" function related to certain doctrines eg. 'Centrimatic'.
The inventive procedure is initiated with the Step A: There is provided a preformed set synthetic upper and lower posterior denture teeth(molars,) substantially of a break- and wear-resistant ceramic or plastic.Generally they feature a cuspless occlusal surface either flat or slightly curved. This surface is bordered with a conservative well-defined 'round-off' shaped buccal, lingual interproximal occlusal edges.
More particularly the upper posterior denture teeth feature a smooth occlusal surface while the corresponding occluding lower posterior denture teeth feature an occlusal surface either smooth'or carvedwith a cutting pattern.Thereby the set may be form composed of said kee'th either in a single/or in 4 quadrant 4 tooth-block forms. This set tooth block forms comprises one right upper tooth-block and one corresponding occluding right lower tooth block, thereby one left upper tooth block and one corresponding occluding left lower tooth block.
Preferably the set is a combination of a right upper tooth block and corresponding occluding righblower posterior denture teeth in single form, thereby of a left upper tooth block and corresponding occluding left lower posterior denture teeth in single form.
The second upper posterior left and right molar of both forms may be made broader bucally lingualwards than the first molar, ,in brder to maintain .bi-lateral non-interfering balanced free-centric articulation eg.;applied to cases where the condylars, are broad or are in a situation of a flailing joint.
The upper molars fuction as an occlusal table to hold the food, the lower molars function as a cutting instrumenyby means of a 'surface-to-edge'occlusal molar contact.
In the next step B:Utilizing this set accordingly any desired technical steps providing an initial appropriate procedure for conservation of a dimensional stability for its centric and vertical bite oral record of proposed articulation in the course of the denture(s) construction. Eg. the technical steps the dental laboratory procedure first addition invention 81855/94, provide a suitable procedure to approach said need.
In the next step C:Setting-up desired upper and lower anterior denture teeth in a non-interfering balanced protrusive anterior edge-to-edge bite stand, accordingly a curved or horizontal occlusal plane.
In the next step D:Setting-up proposed posterior denture teeth accordingly a curved or flat occlusal plane, in a non-interfering balanced free-centric posterior occlusal edge-to-surface bite stand In the next step E: -In order to execute Step D,each occlusal buccal edge of the posterior denture teeth is adapted to each anterior-posterior center-line of each occlusal masticatory surface of the corresnnonding occluding Ir r-6upper posterio denture teeth arranged respectively in a flat or curved total occlusal plane.
In the next step. In the course of the Step E each respective tooth- axis of the lower posterior denture teeth respectively being inclined in a slight angle lingualwards.
In the next step In the course of the StepsE,F,the buccal occlusal edge of the lower posterior denture teeth respectively is executrd accordingly a continuous adjacent occlusally curved or horizontal buccal occlusal edge.
Thereby the buccal occlusal edge and the total occlusal plane are both arranged with a buccal course accordingly a natural individual buccal course of a tooth-arch quadrant either curved or straight.
9**e In the next step In the course of the Steps the lingual 'round-off' occlusal edge of the lower posterior denture teeth is set 'without occlusal contact relative to the opposed occlusal surface of the occluding upper S posterior denture teeth respectively. Thereof creating a free occlusal space between the occlusal surface of the upper and lower posterior denture teeth respectively.
Note: Finally it will be noted that proposed articulation of present invention -related to steps,C,D;E,F,G,H, is executed: by setting-up proposed anterior and posterior denture teeth utilizing hard shrink-free wax or a plastic medium and an occlusal guide member either curved or flat as proposed in first addition invention page 2,line 28-29,page 3,line 10-12; *thereby in the case of upper denture teeth adapting its incisal and occlusal surface respectively to the curved or flat top surface of the occlusal guide member which is vertically supported on its proposed lower model member of the articulator, refer line 25, ,page first addition invention; thereby in the case of lower denture teeth j adanting its buccal'round-off' edge to the curved or flat bottom I I I I -I -7of the occlusal guide member which is vertically suspended from the telescopic upper model member, refer line 28-29,page 2,first addition; remark: tt is obvious that other types 1 of articulators and additional aids may be used to execute the proposed articulation accordinly the invention.
