EMI1.2
 verwendet.

In a further treatment of the subject of the invention of the main patent, it has now been found that with further valuable new aminodiphenylindolylmethane dyes, excellent dyeings or prints can be obtained on the above-mentioned textile substrates.

The process according to the invention is characterized in that sulfonic acid and carboxylic acid group-free dyes of the formula
EMI1.2
 used.

   In this form) R and Rl have the same meaning as in formula 1, i.e. H. R stands for hydrogen, an alkyl or aryl radical, a carboxylic acid ester or an optionally N-substituted carboxylic acid amd group or an alkoxy group and R1 stands for hydrogen or an alkyl, aralkyl, cyoloalkyl or aryl radical;

M represents the remaining members of a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring and X represents an anionic radical; The new dyes can have other nonionic substituents with the exception of sulfonic acid and carboxylic acid groups in the aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, heterocyclic and aromatic radicals, including the benzene rings shown in terms of form. Examples of nonionic substituents are: lower alkyl and alkoxy radicals having 1-4 carbon atoms, aralkyl, such as benzyl, aralicoxy, such as benzyloxy, aryl, such as phenyl and phenyl radicals substituted by nonionic radicals, e.g.

British Patent No. 438426 and Swiss Patent No. 315 127 already disclose dyes of the phenyl-diindolyte methane series and the diphenyl-indolyimethane series. The last-mentioned patent specifies that the dyes are suitable for dyeing fibers made of wool, acetate synthetic silk or polyamide.

Both groups of dyestuffs are acidic compounds which carry sulfonic acid groups.

These sulfated dyes, however, produce either no dyeings or no useful dyeings at all on textile material from polymers or copolymers of acrylonitrile or as-dicyanoethylene or from acid-modified aromatic polyesters.

Prints; the dyes used according to the invention are free from sulfonic acid (and carboxylic acid) groups.

The novel dyes of the formula II used according to the invention are z. B. obtained when using benzophenones of the formula
EMI2.1
with indole derivatives of the formula @
EMI2.2
condenses in the presence of acidic condensing agents to give dyes of the formula II and the starting components are chosen to be free from sulfonic acid and carboxylic acid groups.

The following benzophenones of the formula III, for example, are suitable as starting material for the preparation of the dyes used according to the invention: N- (4-Benzoynlphenyl) morpholine,

According to a further possibility, the new dyes (II) can also be obtained by condensing benzoylindoles of the formula
EMI2.3
with heterocyclic compounds of the formula
EMI2.4
in the presence of an acidic condensation center).

Benzoytmdols of the formula V are, for example, suitable for the preparation of the dyes used according to the invention:
1-methyl-2-phenyl-3-benzoylindole, 1, 2-dimethyl-3-benzoylindole, 1, 2, 5-trimethyl-3-benzoylindole, 1,5-dimethyl-2-phenyl-3-benzoylindole, 1, 2- Dimethyl-3-benzoyl-5-chloroindole, I-methyl-2-phenyl-3-benzoyl-5-chloroindole, t-ethyl-2-methyl-3-benzoylindole, 1-ethyl-2-phenyl-3-benzoylindole,

N-phenyl-N # -methylpiperazine,
N-phenyl-N # - # thylpiperazine, N-phenyl-N # -ox # thylpiperazine and N-phenylpyrrolidine.

Another suitable procedure for the preparation of the new dyes is that one Benzanitide of the formula
EMI3.1
condensed with heterocyclic compounds of the formula VI in the presence of an acidic condensation agent and then with indoles of the formula IV without isolation of the intermediate product.

As examples of the formula VII which are suitable for this mode of operation, there may be mentioned, for example: benzaniiide, 2-chlorobenzanilide, 3-chlorobenzanilide, 4-chlorobenzanilide, 2-methylbenzanilide, 3-methylbenzanilide, 4-methytbenzanilide,

As heterocyclic compounds of the formula VI, the same components are suitable which were specified for the second process route. As indot compounds, those indicated as being suitable for the first preparation route can be used. Phosphorus oxychloride, thionylic moride, phosgene, ZmkcMorid, ahiminium chloride and others are also suitable here as acidic condensation agents.

Another particularly suitable procedure for the preparation of the dyes of the formula II consists in the condensation of compounds of the formula
EMI3.2
in which R- stands for a halogen atom, the oxy, an alkoxy, acyloxy, amino or the sulfonic acid group, with indole derivatives of the formula IV in the presence of acidic condensing agents and reaction of the intermediates of the formula thus obtained
EMI3.3
with heterocyclic compounds of the formula

Suitable heterocyclic compounds of the formula X are, for example:
Morpholine, Thiomorpholine, N-Methylpiperazine, N Athylpiperazine, N-Ox # thylpiperazine, Pyrrdlidine,
The new dyes are particularly suitable for dyeing and printing textile materials that consist entirely or partially of polymerized acrylonitrile and / or vinylidenecyanide, and are characterized by very good lightfastness, wet, rub and authenticity. They also have a very good draw strength on these fibers and have good color fastness.

The new dyes are also very suitable for dyeing and printing acid-modified polyester fibers, such as polyethyiene glycoterephthalates containing sufonic acid groups (type DACRON64) from E. I. DuPont de Nelmours and Company).

The hot melt is poured into 500 parts by volume of water. After stirring for three hours, the solution is saluted with 130 parts by weight of sodium chloride, the solution is separated off from the dye and this is dissolved from 1000 parts by volume of boiling water with the addition of activated charcoal. The dye is precipitated by adding 50 parts by weight of sodium chloride and 10 parts by weight of zinc chloride, filtered off with suction and dried at 50 ° C. in vacuo.

It colors polyacrylonitrile materials in very real blue-tinged green tones.

The N- (4-Benzoylphenyl) morpholine was prepared in the following way:
100 parts by weight of benzanilide, 278 parts by weight of N-phenylmorpholine and 105 parts by weight of phosphorus oxycoride are stirred at 100 ° C. for 4 hours. The hot melt is then poured into a 50 ° C. solution of 65 parts by weight of 37% hydrochloric acid in 440 parts by volume of water, stirred for 2 hours and then diluted with 5000 parts by volume of water.
