Während die Klemmbacke den Schenkel nur auf drei Seiten U-förmig umfasst, ist das Gegenstück so konstruiert, dass es den Schenkel rundum umfasst. Beim Ausüben einer Kraft zwischen Klemmbacke und Gegenstück bleibt deshalb die Klemmbacke auf dem Schenkel frei verschiebbar, während das Gegenstück durch Verkantung in seiner Position auf dem Schenkel fixiert wird. Figur 2 zeigt eine Ausführungsform der Winkelzwinge, bei welcher die beiden Schenkel (11, 12) am Gelenk (17) einen verstellbaren Winkel bilden und durch eine Klemmschraube (18) gegeneinander fixiert werden können. Die in der Figur gezeigten Spannvorrichtungen (14) sind in einer zweiten Ausführungsform dargestellt, bestehend aus einem auf dem Schenkel mittels Bolzen in Langlöchern (16) fixierbaren Block und einer darauf montierten, aus Spannschraube und Endplatte bestehenden Vorrichtung.
Figur 3 zeigt eine Spannvorrichtung der ersten Ausführungsform im Detail. Die Klemmbacke (3) ist mit ihrem U-förmigen Unterteil auf den Schenkel (1) aufgesetzt und auf dem letzteren frei verschiebbar. Das Gegenstück (4) umschliesst mit seinem Unterteil (18) den Schenkel (2) vollständig und wird daher, bei Ausübung einer seitlichen Kraft, auf dem letzteren durch Verkanten in seiner Position festgeklemmt. Mit Hilfe des Handgriffs (6) lässt sich die Gewindeachse, gegen den oberen Teil der Klemmbacke (3) drücken, welche ihrerseits in Richtung auf das Werkstück drückt. Der Querschnitt des Schenkels ist in der Figur bei Ziffer (19) ersichtlich.
Figur 4 zeigt die in der Figur 2 verwendete zweite Ausführungsform der Spannvorrichtung im Detail: Auf dem Schenkel (1) ist der den Schenkel mit seinem Unterteil U-förmig umfassende Block (21) dargestellt, der mit Hilfe der beiden Bolzen (22) in den schlüssellochförmigen Langlöchern (16) auf der Oberseite des Schenkels in seiner Längsposition fixiert werden kann. Die Klemmschraube (23) dient zur weiteren Befestigung des Blocks Auf dem Oberteil des Blocks ist die Schraubenmutter (24) aufgeschweisst. Sie dient zur Aufnahme der Gewindestange (25), welche an ihrem einen Ende eine mit der letzteren fest verbundene Sechskantmutter (26) trägt.
