An apparatus for the continuous drying and shrinking of textile knitted or woven good, having at least one drying station (5, 6, 7) comprising several oppositely disposed and oppositely acting hot-air nozzles (8, 9) which are offset relative to each other and directed into a through-channel (4) and also having at least two endless rotating, air permeable guide belts (2, 3) limiting said channel (4) above and below, whereby for conveyance of a web (1) of material to be treated through the at least one drying station (5, 6, 7) an endless rotary web-tentering frame (13) passing along the through-channel (4) limited by the guide by the guide belts (2, 3) is provided, and the vertical distance between said web-tenter frame (13) and the lower strand of the at least one upper guide belt (2), as also between the upper strand of the at least one lower guide belt (3) is so calculated that, as the apparatus operates, within the particular effective range of a hot-air nozzle (8, 9) directed thereon, a web (1), in a locally limited area, secured in and conveyed by the web-tenter frame (13), comes into contact with the further distanced guide belt (3, 2), and the supply means (A, B) conveying the web (1) to be treated to the tenter frame are so designed as to secure the material (1) with forward slip to the tenter frame, characterised by that the drying station (5, 6, 7) is provided with hot-air slit nozzles (8, 9) extending over the entire width of the material (1) to be treated, and that the lower and/or upper guide belt (3, 2) moves on at greater speed than that of the tenter frame (13), and that the left-hand and right-hand web-clamping means (18, 19) of the tenter frame (13) comprise an endless chain carrying needles (16, 17) or tenter clips, and in that both chains (18, 19) are conveyed through a guide and covering channel (22, 23) within the through-channel (4) and extending in longitudinal direction of said channel (4), and which is supported in vertical direction on at least one of the upper and lower guide belts (2, 3).
    2. An apparatus according to claim 1 characterised in that a width-stretching device (A) for treatment of the web is mounted before the tenter frame (13) which device (A) is provided with at least two rollers (14, 15), one (14) of which has on its periphery a relief comprising a plurality of elevations and depressions, whilst the other (15) has on its periphery an at least approximately complementary relief whose elevations fit into the depressions of the aforementioned roller (14).
    3. An apparatus according to one of the claims 1 and 2, characterised in that the mutual distance apart (K) of the two guide belts (2, 3) limiting the through-channel (4) in vertical direction is adjustable.
    4. An apparatus according to one of the claims 1 to 3 characterised in that the efflux direction (I) in at least a part of the shrinking zone of the apparatus is directed obliquely counter to the direction of travel (D) of the web and at an angle (α) in the region of 1° - 40° to the vertical, and in that the blower strength and the angle of inclination (α) are co-ordinated in such a manner that, in practice, no significant displacement at any point occurs of the web portions in contact upon the two guide belts (2, 3).
