Die Patentliteratur enthält viele Vorschläge für die Herstellung von Deckelstäben mit Garnituren, zusammengesetzt aus Sägezahnstreifen - siehe z.B. EP-A-638672. Die bevorzugte Deckelgarnitur ist aber nach wie vor die flexible oder halbstarre Garnitur, wie Klein sie beschrieben hat. Diese Garniturart hat aber den Nachteil, dass ein (mit Spitzen gespickter) Garniturstreifen (die sogenannte "Basis", normalerweise aus miteinander verklebten Gewebelagen gebildet) an dem Deckelstab durch sogenannte Clips befestigt werden muss. Daher, obwohl die Trägerfläche des Deckelstabes eine Breite von ca. 32 bis 35 mm aufweist, verbleibt für Spitzen nur eine effektive Arbeitsbreite von ca. 22 mm (siehe Klein, "Putzerei und Karderie", Seite 48). Solche Befestigungsmittel sind z.B. in CH-B-521 454, US-B-5,095,585, US-B-4,295,248 und US-B-3,151,362, 3,057,020, gezeigt. Durch die Verwendung der Clipsvorrichtungen gehen die an den Längskanten angrenzenden Randzonen des Streifens als Nutzfläche verloren. Ein weiteres Mittel zum Befestigen von Kardiergarnituren zeigt die DE-A-2544517. Darin werden Kardiergarnituren durch eine lösbar haftende Zwischenschicht an Deckelkörper befestigt. Diese Befestigungsart hat sich in der Praxis aber nicht durchgesetzt.
