Claims (12)

  1. A method for gathering printed products in a device for gathering printed products (4) along a gathering line (2) formed by a conveying apparatus (12) and feed apparatuses (3) for the printed products (4), the conveying apparatus (12) having receiving points (5) for printed products (4) fed in located at regular intervals on a revolving traction means (7), and a sensor (8) detecting defective receiving points (6) on the conveying apparatus (12) being located along the conveying line (2), the sensor being connected to a control apparatus (16) determining the feed of the printed products (4) to the receiving points (5) of the conveying apparatus (12), characterised in that defective receiving points (6) are not supplied by the feed apparatuses (3).
  2. The method according to Claim 1, characterised in that the sensor (8) is located at the end of the gathering line (2).
  3. The method according to Claim 1, characterised in that the sensor (8) is located before the start of the gathering line (2).
  4. The method according to Claim 2 or 3, characterised in that the sensor (8) is designed for the optical, electrical or mechanical detection of defective receiving points (6).
  5. The method according to any of Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the control apparatus (16) has a computer that determines the maintenance of an on-going processing process by means of the number of copies to be produced and the number of copies still to be produced that can be established.
  6. The method according to Claim 5, characterised in that the control apparatus (16) interrupts the on-going processing process in order to rectify a defective receiving point (6).
  7. The use of the method according to any of Claims 1 to 6 with a collating machine for producing glue-bound book blocks.
  8. The use of the method according to any of Claims 1 to 6 with a saddle stitcher for producing wire-stitched printed products.
  9. A device for gathering printed products (4) along a gathering line (2) formed from a conveying apparatus (12) and feed apparatuses (3) for the printed products (4), the conveying apparatus (12) having receiving points (5) for printed products (4) fed in located at regular intervals on a revolving traction means (7), a sensor (8) detecting defective receiving points (6) on the conveying apparatus (12) being located along the conveying line (2), the sensor being connected to a control apparatus (16) determining the feed of the printed products (4) to the receiving points (5) of the conveying apparatus (12), characterised in that the control device (16) is designed to stop the gathering device for a short time in the event of a defective receiving point (6) determined by the sensor (8) and depending on the decision of the operator regarding whether production should be continued or not, to maintain the on-going processing process while not supplying the defective receiving point(s) or to interrupt production until the defective receiving point(s) has/have been repaired.
  10. The device according to Claim 9, characterised in that the sensor (8) is located at the end of the gathering line (2).
  11. The device according to Claim 9, characterised in that the sensor (8) is located before the start of the gathering line (2).
  12. The device according to Claim 10 or 11, characterised in that the sensor (8) is designed for the optical, electrical or mechanical detection of defective receiving points (6).
