Catalizador a base de cobre tratado por reducción y procedimiento para la producción de alcohol alfa-feniletílico utilizando el mismo. Un catalizador a base de cobre tratado por reducción obtenido por reducción con hidrógeno de un catalizador a base de cobre en presencia de una fase líquida, y un procedimiento para producir alcohol o {al}-feniletílico, que comprende la hidrogenación de acetofenona en presencia del citado catalizador.
