Abstract

The device has a spring plate attached to a dorsal lever (4) on a knife. The knife has a blade (3) articulated on a pivot (5) and guided between two lateral plates, in open position. A lower end of the dorsal lever pushes a lower lateral face of the blade till a tang of the blade rests on a stop (8). The knife is locked by pressing a back of the dorsal lever which engages in a notch of the blade while pushing the blade.

Description

The present invention relates to a blade locking device on a folding knife.
A folding knife has an articulated blade which fits into the handle, during transport and which will be taken out, for its use and traditionally, this blade is articulated around a pivot and the rotation stops on a stop in the open position and on another stop in the handle, in the retracted position. In recent knives, the blade is held in the open position by a brake or a blockage. With regard to the retracted position, a brake system keeps the blade inside "roughly".
The ideal knife should have a position lock, for safety in use and a return system in the handle, to push the blade against the stop to avoid inadvertent opening in the pocket. The device according to the invention solves this problem.
The blade according to a first characteristic, is articulated around an axis, and guided between two plates, in the open position, the end of the dorsal lever, in the form of a hook, is housed in the blade housing, ensuring locking , and in the retracted position, the lower end of the back lever pushes the lower lateral face of the blade until the heel of the blade abuts on the stop. For a good understanding, this lever is cut so that a finer part acts as a spring and pushes the hook part while resting on the rear pivot.
The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: Figure 1 shows the front view, in section, of the closed knife, Figure 2 shows the front view, in section, of the open knife 1 Figure 3 shows the top view, in cut, of the open knife, With reference to these drawings, the knife comprises a blade (3) articulated around a pivot (5) guided between the rear plate (1) and the front plate (2) and maintained using of the screw (6) thereby forming a yoke.
The assembly of the pivot (5), the two spacers (7) and (9), and three screws (6) form an air gap in which the back lever (4) freely rocks around the spacer (7).
A cylindrical pin (8) fitted into the two plates (1) and (2) limits the closing of the blade (3).
The rear part of the blade (3), on the side of the pivot hole (5) is (commonly called heel. The back lever (4) is cut so as to produce a thinner part intended to act as a spring, which, by pressing on the spacer (9), pushes the rear so that the other end keeps contact with the heel of the blade (3). In the open position, this back lever (4) engages in the notch of the blade (3) by immobilizing it, and in the closed position, this back lever (4) presses on the heel of the blade (3) articulated around the pivot (5) by pushing it against the stop ( The blade (3) is released by pressing on the back of the back lever (4), crushing the spring part.
By ensuring a pre-tension in the back lever (4), that is to say that the spring part pushes on the heel of the blade (3) even in the position engaged in 't'noche. It should be noted that the greater the effort, the more the blocking of the blade (3) is safe and effective.
By way of nonlimiting example, all the parts in contact, the blade (3), the plates (1) and (2), the lever (4), the stop (8) the pivot (5) are in steels heat treated, to increase its hardness and therefore the longevity of the mechanism.
By way of nonlimiting example, the "leaf spring" can be independent and screwed onto the lever (4), as an attached part.
The tip of the back lever (4) has a truncated wedge shape to ensure blockage, without play, of the blade. By way of nonlimiting example, the tip of the back lever (4) can be of semi-rounded shape, from the moment when the function provided is the stopping of the blade (3) in both directions.
