Abstract
107,605. Malcolmson, N., and Kelsey, H. H. April 5, 1916. Dyes from natural products.-Textile materials are dyed in an aqueous or spirit bath containing seaweed of the Melanosperm, Rhodosperm, - or Chlorosperm groups, either in the raw state or in paste or powder form; the use of dulse, and of the mixtures of laminaria with indigo described in Specification 1789/02, is excluded. The paste may be made by boiling the seaweed in water and then crushing it; the powder may be made by drying such paste, or by drying and grinding the weed. Sulphuric acid may be added to the dye-bath. Other dyes, mordants, &c. may be used in conjunction with the seaweed. Specification 142/81, [Class 15, Bleaching &c.], also is referred to.
