Abstract
1310753 Reactive monoazo dyes SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 28 April 1970 20240/70 Heading C4P The invention comprises reactive monoazo dyes which in the form of the free acid have the formula wherein X is H or -SO 3 H; Y is a methyl or carboxyl group; Z is a sulphatoethyl or vinyl group and the benzene ring A may be further substituted by one or more methyl, methoxy ethyl, ethoxy or sulphonic acid groups. The dyes may be prepared by reacting a diazotized amine of formula with an N-acetoacetyl compound of the formula where R is a sulphatoethyl, vinyl or hydroxyethyl group and, in the case where R is hydroxyethyl, treating the resulting compound with sulphuric or chlorosulphuric acid to produce a sulphatoethyl group and optionally treating the produced monoazo compound with alkali to form a vinyl group. The dyes give yellow shades on cellulose fibres and nitrogen-containing fibres.
