Abstract
1380117 Explosively-operated fastener driving tools HILTI AG 10 Oct 1972 [15 Nov 1971] 46615/72 Heading B4C An explosively-operated fastener driving tool comprises a barrel 7 containing a displaceable driving piston 9, a two-armed stop 14 which, when the barrel is moved forwardly within its housing 6, projects through a slot 7a in the barrel to engage the piston and return it to its rearward position in the barrel, the stop being caused when the barrel is returned rearwardly to swing back into a recess 11 which opens outwardly to allow escape of gases from the recess but is sealed by the barrel in the ready-forfiring condition. The stop 14 is pivoted into the slot 7a by a spring 12 and is returned by a cam surface 7b at the forward end of the slot. If the piston 9 is overdriven by detonation of a cartridge 5 it is arrested by a shoulder 9b at a conical face 10a. The piston is frictionally held by a ring 15.
