Abstract
211,417. Moore, W. D. Sept. 10, 1923. Mould materials.-Cylindrical moulds such as centrifugal moulds for casting iron pipes are faced with dry powder delivered by axially moving apparatus. The plumbago, graphite, lampblack, cement or other powder is placed in an openended receptacle 3 which rests on a cone 19 carried by bars 11, yoke 32, and a flexible pipe 34, electric cable, or other support by which the device is moved axially. A pneumatic, electric or other motor 31 is mounted in the yoke 32 and drives a shaft 7 on which is mounted a cam disc 17 adapted to lift a roller 26 and the receptacle 3 which carries it, against the action of a spring 22, to discharge the powder intermittently. The shaft also carries felt wipers 28 which apply the powder to the face of the mould. The bars 11 are padded by means of felt 15 and a disc 16 of the same material mounted between two metal plates 8 guides the device and prevents escape of the powder.
