Abstract
211,640. Falconer, J., and Blair, Campbell, & McLean, Ltd. Dec. 22, 1922. Coating-machines.-A distiller's or other vat is provided with means for imparting a vertical and rotary movement to brushes mounted therein for the purpose of cleaning or applying limewash to the vat. A spindle b, Figs. 1 and 4, is mounted in the vat in such a way that it can be rotated by bevel gearing f from any suitable source of power, and carries a boss g connected by ball bearing n<2> working in key-ways n, n<1> so that the boss rotates with the spindle but can also move up and down. The vertical movement is effected by means of chains k operated from a winch m and connected with the boss by means of a ring i carried in a double, ball bearing h, h<1>. To flanges g<1> on the boss two radial arms c are secured, to the ends of which brushes s may be removably pivoted, or to the sides of which frames r carrying brushes are secured by hooks d. The moving parts are counterpoised by a weight p.
