Abstract
213,799. Schueler, G. R. May 25, 1923. Dust &c., confining on generation.-Within the cooling and drying chamber of apparatus described in Specification 102,460 two series of air passages are arranged adjacent opposing walls and in staggered relation with two or more irclined arrangements of slots or louvre-like devices forming outlets for the cooling air. Dust collecting chambers are provided at the side of the main chamber and communicate with it through apertures covered by gauze or the like. The material is fed by means such as described in the above mentioned Specification to the top of the chamber A, and follows a zig-zag path by impinging on the louvre-like devices E - - E<3> before passing to a bottom portion J provided with outlets controlled by slides j. The devices E - - E<3> which are. constituted by bars F. Fig. 5, and slots secured thereto by bolts f the heads of which act as spacing members, form one surface of passages C - - C<3> which extend longitudinally through the casing and through which air is passed by means of pipes connected to one end of the passages. The sides of the chamber A are provided with apertures H, H<2> covered by wire netting gauze &c. and communicating with collecting chambers G, G' for the dust driven out by the air. The air escapes from the open upper end of these chambers, and slide-controlled outlets g, g<2> for the, discharge of the dust are provided at the bottom.
