Magneto - electric machines.-The field system of a magneto comprises a pair of bar magnets a joined at the ends by soft iron b and having their poles c at or near the centre, the distance between the bars being such that the intervening gap provides a path of sufficiently low reluctance to protect the magnets against excessive demagnetization. Internal poles d may be provided to shorten this path.
