Abstract

215,834. Terry, E. Feb. 14, 1923. Boat-launching apparatus.-The launching-gear enables the boat to be raised from its chocks swung clear of the deck and projected athwartship along a launching rail and released automatically so that it plunges into the water clear of the side of the vessel. A standard 1 movable vertically in a pedestal 2 supports on trunnions 4 a launching rail 3. The boat hangs from trolleys 8 connected by bars 9, and in operation, the track is raised by manipulating worm and worm gear actuating the standard 1. Tilting-gear comprising wire rope 19 and winding-gear 20 are then employed to incline the track outboard, whereupon the boat and carriage travel along the arm until a catch 13 trips the hooks 10, thereby releasing the lifeboat which is projected in a lateral direction.
