Abstract

215,840. Garratt, E. A. Feb. 16, 1923. Oil supply.-An oil burner safety connection comprising a pipe coupling provided with a lift valve having a tubular ported stem sliding through a casing into contact with a removable member, has the tubular stem and the part of the burner with which the burner makes contact formed to make a liquid tight joint. In the form shown, the valve member 10 is pressed to its seat by a spring 15 bearing against a ported plug 17 screwed into the casing 5. The convex end of the tubular stem projects slightly above the end of the casing and is ground to co-operate with a corresponding concave surface on the burner 27 so that the final movement in connecting the burner opens the valve. This may be effected by a set screw, bayonet catch, or cam action.
