Description
SPECIFICATION
Self-unloading trailer, with a tip box the floor of which is fitted with a roller track or conveying belt
This invention relates to a self-unloading trailer, with a tip box the floor of which is fitted with a roller track or conveying belt.
There are many self-unloading trailers which are fitted with a tip box. Said tip boxes discharge the load thereof either backwards or sidewards from a height which may never be higher than the lowermost edge of the swinging tip box.
Self-unloading trailers are also known the bottom of which is fitted with a roller track or conveying belt. With such self-unloading trailers also, it is not possible either to discharge higher than the..height of the trailer proper.
A substantial disadvantage of the self-unloading trailer of the above-defined kinds is to be seen in the fact that when discharging bulk goods, for example, it is never possible to stack in the height and this has to occur in the length, which may mean a severe place loss.
The invention has now for object to provide a self-unloading trailer with a tip box which can discharge the load thereof at the desired height. This is a very attractive solution when one either will deposit the conveyed goods on a higher-lying level, or one will discharge the conveyed load or the bulk goods at a height which can not be reached in another way.
To obtain such a result according to the invention, said tip box is adjustable in the height.
Still according to the invention, said tip box is mounted on at least one swingable hydraulic piston and the hinge point of the tip box relative to the self-unloading trailer frame lies along the front side thereof, when considering the running direction of the trailer.
Other details and advantages of the invention will stand out from the following description, given by way of non limitative example and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a diagrammatic side view of a tip box which is hingedly connected at the back, to the trailer frame.
Figure 2 is a diagrammatic side view of a self-unloading trailer the box floor of which is fitted with a roller track or conveying belt.
Figure 3 is a diagrammatic side view of a self-unloading trailer according to the invention.
The above three figures relate to a selfunloading trailer which is fastened in a known way to a tractor 1. It is clear that the invention may also be applied to self-moving selfunloading vehicles. The self-unloading trailers according to the invention are heavily used in the agriculture, and they are thus comprised of a frame 2 with wheels 3.
In the embodiment as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the discharge height is never higher than h or h', respectively.
In the first case, the tip box 4 is swung backwards by using a hydraulic piston 5, which is hingedly mounted on the frame 2, approximately in the middle thereof. Said arrangement is conventional and has the disadvantages as defined in the preamable, namely the low discharge height.
The self-unloading trailer as shown in Fig. 2 is also comprised of a frame 2 with wheels 3, but the box 6 fastened thereon may not be tipped. The bottom of said box has thereby been fitted with a roller track or conveying belt 7, whereby the discharge height lies somewhat higher, but still remains insignificant. The discharge height in this case is h' and does not solve essentially the problem of the discharge height.
The self-unloading trailer as shown in Fig. 3 is provided with a box 9 which is mounted on a frame 2, by means of a swinging hydraulic piston 8, and which is fitted with a roller track or conveying belt 10.
The drawing in Fig. 3 is however reduced to the bare components which are necessary for the frontwards tipping of box 9, and actually as shown by arrow 11. As the box 9 is fitted with a conveying belt 10, the materials to be discharged may now be discharged on a substantially higher level. The discharge height reaches in this case a height h", which may be considered in this case as a substantial improvement.
It does thus appear clearly from the above description that the invention should be considered in the combination of a frontward-slanting tip box fitted with a roller track or conveying belt mounted in the bottom thereof. which tip box may be brought higher with the back end thereof, due to the action of the hydraulic piston 8.
As the accompanying figures have been kept very diagrammatic, the attention may further be drawn to the fact that the hinge point 1 2 of tip box 9 lies at a fixed height relative to the frame 2.
It must be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the above-described embodiment and that many changes may be brought therein without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
1. Self-unloading trailer, with a tip box the floor of which is fitted with a roller track or conveying belt, in which said tip box is adjuatable in the height.
2. Self-unloading trailer as defined in claim 1, in which said tip box is mounted on at least one swinging hydraulic piston, and the hinge point of said tip box relative to the
