Abstract
218,022. Caudwell, F., and Belton, C. M. D. April 4, 1923. Incandescent gas burners.-The burner comprises a cylindrical nipple-regulator 1, having a number of longitudinal or spiral tapering grooves 2, preferably of greatest crosssectional area at the outlet end, and a. mixing-tube 9, the inner end of which is of smaller diameter than the mixing-chamber 7 and which preferably tapers from the outer to the inner end. The lower end of the regulator 1 may be rounded and the grooves extended to the centre, or openings may be formed between the nipple 3 and the regulator 1 by forming flats on the latter, in place of grooves, as shown in Fig. 7. The regulator 1 is screwed to a slide 4 adapted to be reciprocated by a spindle 6 carrying a crank pin 5. A superheater 10 containing a diaphragm 11, provided with peripheral openings, may be interposed between the mixing- tube 9 and the nozzle 13. The Provisional Specification states also that a globe holder G, a china protector P and a shield H may be screwed in position by a lock-nut F.
