Abstract

A ribbon comprises a base material A composed of synthetic weft threads 2 and elastic warp threads 3 and at least one surface weft of high density which, being composed of brilliant threads 5 of synthetic material, is connected to the base material A by fine warp threads 6 of synthetic material. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Ribbon having a surface brilliance effect The invention relates to a ribbon having a surface brilliance effect.
In orderto decorate certain elastic ribbons, and for example those used in orderto constitute brassiere straps, it is known to provide them with a brilliant appearance on at least one surface. Traditionally, this appearance is obtained by monofilamentwarp threads of synthetic material. The connection secured bytheweftthreads locally obscures the brilliant threads and thus give rise to reduced brilliance.
An object of the present invention is to provide an elastic ribbon having a strongly brilliant surface.
To this effect, this ribbon comprises a base material composed of synthetic weft threads and elastic warp threads and at least one surface weft of high density which, composed of brilliant synthetic threads is connected to the base material by fine warp threads of synthetic brilliant material.
By virtue oftheirfineness, the warp threads of synthetic material, securing the connection between the surface weft of high density and the base material, are practically invisible and do not atall alterthe brilliance effect which the greater because the surface weft has a high density.
The invention will be better understood with the aid ofthefollowing description with reference to the accompanying schematic diagram ofwhich the single figure represents, in longitudinal section and to an enlarged scale, the structure of the ribbon of the invention.
This ribbon is composed of a base material designated by A and including, as wefts, threads or synthetic material 2 and, as warps, elasticthreads 3, but also possibly threads 4 of syntheticfoam material ofthetype marketed underthe designation nylon. The threads 4form pads and increase the comfort of contact of the ribbon on the skin, in known manner.
With the base material A is associated a surface weft of high density composed of brilliantthreads 5 of synthetic material. This weft is connected to the base material A by fine monofilament brilliantwarp threads 6 of synthetic material. By way of example, the fine threads are of 22 decitex whilst the weft th reads 5 are of 156 decitex.
By virtue of this arrangement, the threads 6 ensure an excellent connection ofthe brilliantweftwithout changing in any way the brilliance effect which is thus greatly superiorto that obtained with traditional ribbons.
Advantageously, and in an embodiment which is not shown, when the ribbon includes projecting reliefs on its brilliantsurfaceforming designs, thelatterare formed by missing out warp threads 6 of the synthetic material.
In a modified embodiment, the ribbon includes a brilliant weft on each of its surfaces and each weft is connected to the base material by the fine warp threads 6.
1. A ribbon having a surface brilliance effect, characterised in that it includes a base material A composed of synthetic weft th reads 2 and eiastic warp threads 3 and at least one surface weft of high density which, being composed of brilliantthreads 5 of synthetic material, is connected to the base material A byfinewarpthreads 6 of synthetic material.
2. A ribbon according to Claim 1 characterised in thatwhen it includes projecting reliefs on its brilliant surface, the latter are formed by missing out fine warp threads 6 of synthetic material.
