Abstract

A pump for dispensing viscous liquid from bag-in-box containers, is provided. The bag is attached to A leading to an inlet of the pump which, in the starting position of Figure 1, leads to pump chamber G between pistons D and E. Pushing handle C inwards causes piston D to move, cutting off the inlet, trapping a portion of liquid between the pistons and eventually pushing piston E until it stops and uncovers outlet B and so lets the portion of liquid be dispensed by the motion of piston D alone. Withdrawing the piston D does not move piston E until the lost motion of connection F is taken up, when E moves until it and D are stopped by the internal shoulder of the cylinder contacting piston E, completing the cycle. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION High viscuous liquid dispenser This invention relates to a dispenser for high viscuous liquids, i.e. sauces.
The trend isto supply high viscuous liquids in bulk packaging. In some cases high viscuous liquids such assauceswould be supplied in bag-in-boxdispensers. To dispense from a bag-in-box can be inconvenient and messy and if the dispenser allows air into the sauce this will then solidify.
The invention refers to a dispenser which will fit into the flange of a bag and dispense a measured amount of liquid. The bag and flange could besim- ilarto the types being used for wines and beers.
Specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the dispenser before the dispensing action with Inlet A, which fits into the bag flange; Handle C, Two pistons E and D, connected by a rod F, chamber G and Outlet B.
Figure 2 shows the dispenser after dispensing action is completed.
Referring to the drawing the invention comprises a body which has an inletAwhich connects to aflange in a bag and an outlet B through which the sauce leaves the dispenser. The sauce enters the dispenser through Inlets and passes in between the two pistons E and D. To operate the dispenser the handle C is pushed forward which causes both pistons E & D to move forward with the sauce trapped between them. The pistons E and Dare held apart by flexible legs which are connected to piston D. As piston B passestheinletA,thusshutting offtheliquidfrom the container, these legs fall into the wider part ofthe dispenser's body. Piston Ethen slides towards piston D thus pressurising the sauce and forcing it out of the spout which has been opened bythe movement of piston D.The pistons then are together (as Figure 2) which shuts the container offfrom outside air.
To dispense more liquid, i.e. sauce, the handle C is pulled backwards which causes piston Eto move backwards until the end of the rod on piston D is reached. Piston Ethen pulls piston D back, theflexible legs on piston Dare foreced back into the nar rower part of the bodyandthe inlet is opened again as piston E passes it. The sauce now falls between the pistons and the first operation is repeated to dispense more sauce.
1. A high viscous liquid, i.e. sauce, dispenser which dispenses from a bag-in-box container.
2. A high viscous liquid, i.e. sauce dispenser as in Claim ( 1 ) which dispenses a measu red amount of liquid.
3. A high viscous liquid, i.e. sauce, dispenser as in Claim (1) which seals the container after dispensing.
4. A high viscous liquid, i.e. sauce, dispenser as in Claim (1) which dispenses with a minimum amountofwasteand mess.
