Abstract
A method for treating a melt consists in forming a flow of low-temperature plasma (2), feeding it into the melt (3) through the surface of the melt (3) at a speed of about 1,500 m/sec and feeding admixtures passed through the flow of plasma (2). The device comprises a plasmatron (1) provided with a nozzle (5), the inlet cross-section of which is essentially equal to that of the plasmatron (1). The length of the part of the nozzle (5) immersed into the melt (3) represents from 0.1 to 0.8 of the height of the melt (3) column.
