Abstract
219,566. Lasseaux, M. A. Nov. 24, 1923. Inhalers.-In a nasal inhaler of the type in which pads made of or impregnated with a medicament are held in receptacles inserted into the nostrils, the pads are formed with grooves on one or both faces to increase their superficial area, and each receptacle comprises a cup closed by a hinged or detachable cover and so constructed as to be open at its upper and lower ends to afford a free passage of air in the vertical direction. The pad i, which may be made of the material to be inhaled or of asbestos, silica, kaolin, pumice-stone or like porous material impregnated with a medicament, is formed with longitudinal grooves j on one or both sides. The receptacles a, which may be of aluminium, are provided with slotted covers f of the shape shown having flanges g which carry bosses h engaging holes e in the walls of the receptacles. A clip b provided with a reinforcing strip c connects the receptacles a, and may be manipulated so that the appliance either grips the nasal septum or presses against the inner walls of the nostrils. Alternatively to the method of attachment shown, the flanges g of the covers f may fit on or within the walls of the receptacles, or the covers may be constituted by small plates sliding in suitable grooves formed in the receptacle.
