Abstract
220,141. Walker, H. M. July 31, 1923. Gaiters are fastened by adjustable straps and tension springs. Two or more sets may be used. A strap e, Fig. 1, is attached at its outer end to one side n<2> of the gaiter and at its other end to a buckle d for adjustment. The buckle is attached by a loop c to a spring a provided with a tab r and another loop b for engagement with a hook s on the opposite side n<1> of the gaiter. The spring a may have a leather backing of known construction to prevent undue extension. In a modification, the strap e may be branched and attached to the side n<2> of the gaiter at two points. In another modification, Fig. 2, the buckle a is not attached to the loop c but to the strap e is passed through the loop c and attached by a tab p to the side n<2> of the. gaiter at l<2> and through a ring k to the side n<1> at l<1>; or it may be attached to the side n<2> at l<2>.
