Abstract
224,701. Hill, E. H., and Hill, H. Oct. 26, 1923. Actuating pumps by foot power; oscillating- cylinder pumps.-A pump comprising a foot-operated spring-controlled frame lever pivoted on a base, the piston rod and the cylinder being pivoted each to one of these parts, is formed with a base in the form of a frame, either the lever or the base being bent towards the other part to form a continuation of that part in the closed position of the pump. The pump is pivoted to the lever between the ends of the lever, and the flexible delivery tubing is connected to the pump near the pivot. The sides of the frames together form a box for the pump in the closed position. The sides 2 of the lever are bent towards the end where it is pivoted to the frame base 1, which is fitted with supports 12 and partly covered at the bottom by the springs 14 and a bridge piece 17 to which they are connected, and by flooring 18. A movable lid may be fitted to one or both of the lever sides 2. The piston rod is pivoted to the base by trunnions on a cap 7, and the cylinder head is unsymmetrically pivoted to the lever. The flexible tube 11 is connected also unsymmetrically to the head, and in the closed position is packed into the space between the head and the fulcrum of the lever.
