A sticker comprises a back-sheet 14 and a stickable front-sheet 12. The front face 20 of the back-sheet 14 and the rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12 are joined by temporary adhesive 23, and the back-sheet 14 is arranged such that upon separation of all or part of it from the front-sheet 12, information 26 applied to the rear face of the front-sheet 24, to a further sheet (52 fig 7) affixed to the front-sheet 12 or to the rear face (90 fig 10) of the back-sheet remains on the sticker. Then the front-sheet 12 may be adhered to a surface (32 fig 4) thereby covering the information 26 which may only be observed if the front-sheet 12 is removed from the surface (32 fig 4). The back sheet may be frame-shaped as shown, leaving an adhesive-free area in the middle of the rear face of the front sheet, or may cover the whole of the rear face of the front sheet and be perforated to allow part of it to be removed (fig. 10). <IMAGE>
Description
A STICKER
The present invention relates to a sticker.
More particularly, the sticker of the present invention allows the printing, writing, stamping or placing of information on the back thereof.
Typically, stickers are used to communicate some form of information, whether it be advertising or another form of message, on a front face thereof. The sticker is provided as having a front-sheet and a back-sheet. The information bearing portion being a front face of the front-sheet. The adhesive is located between the front and back sheets and is predominantly located on a rear face of the front-sheet. The back-sheet being of a nature that does not grip strongly the adhesive, for example being wax coated.
The present invention provides a sticker that enables information to be applied to a face other than the front face of the front-sheet.
In accordance with one aspect of the present invention there is provided a sticker comprising a back-sheet and a stickable front-sheet, both the back-sheet and front-sheet having front and rear faces, wherein the front face of the back-sheet and the rear face of the front-sheet are joined by temporary adhesive, the back-sheet being arranged such that upon separation of whole or part thereof from the front-sheet, information applied to the rear face of the front-sheet, to a further sheet affixed to the front-sheet or to the rear face of the back-sheet remains on the sticker.
The present invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 14 is an upper perspective view of the sticker of
Figure 13 shown partially adhered to a surface.
In Figures 1 to 4 there is shown a sticker 10 in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention comprising a front-sheet 12 and a back-sheet 14. The front-sheet 12 has a front face 16 and a rear face 18. The back-sheet 14 has a front face 20 and a rear face 22.
When not in use the rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12 is adhered to the front face 20 of the back-sheet 14 by a temporary adhesive 23. The back-sheet 14 does not cover the whole of the rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12 as shown in Figures 2 and 3. A portion 24 of the rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12 is left uncovered by the back-sheet 14. The portion 24 is free of adhesive 23.
The portion 24 of the rear face 18 may have information 26 applied thereto.
The rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12 has a small area 28 without adhesive 23 outside the portion 24, as can be seen in Figures 2 and 3.
The front face 16 of the front-sheet 12 bears a message and/or logo 30.
In Figure 4 there is shown the sticker 10 partially adhered to a surface 32.
In Figures 5 to 8 there is shown a sticker 50 in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention. The sticker 50 shares a number of features with the sticker 10 and like numerals denote like parts.
The front face 16 of the front-sheet 12 again bears a message and/or a logo 30. As shown in Figures 6 and 7 the back-sheet 14 does not cover the whole of the rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12. As such, a portion 24 of the rear face 18 of the front-sheet is left uncovered by the back-sheet 14.
The portion 24 has affixed to at least a part thereof a further sheet 52. The further sheet 52 comprises a first portion 54 and a second portion 56 contiguous through a join 58. The first portion 54 is affixed to the portion 24, as can be best seen in Figure 7.
The first portion 54 has a front face 60 and a rear face 62. The front face 60 is affixed to the portion 24. The rear face 62 provides a surface suitable for the application of information 26.
The second portion 56 has a front-face 64 and a rear-face 66. The front-face 64 provides a surface suitable for the application of information 26. The rear face 66 presents a substantially featureless surface.
The second portion 56 is typically folded over at the join 58 onto the first portion 54. The rear face 62 of the first portion 54 and the front face 64 of the second portion 56 meet in this position.
In Figure 8 there is shown the sticker 50 partially adhered to a surface 32.
In Figures 9 to 12 there is shown a sticker 80 in accordance with a third embodiment of the present invention. Again the sticker 80 shares a number of features with the stickers 10 and 50 and like numerals denote like parts.
The front face 16 of the front-sheet 12 again bears a message and/or logo 30. A back-sheet 82 substantially covers the rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12. However, a perforated line 84 in the back-sheet 82 defines a region 86, as is best seen in Figure 10. The perforated line 84 wholly surrounds the region 86. However, it is to be understood that the perforated line 84 may meet the boundary of the back-sheet 82 and thereby surround the region 86.
The back sheet 82 has a front face 88 and a rear face 90.
The front face 88 is typically adhered to the rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12 except for the small area 28 of the rear face 18 without adhesive 22.
In Figure 12 there is shown the sticker 80 partially adhered to a surface 32.
In Figures 13 to 15 there is shown a sticker 100 in accordance with a fourth embodiment of the present invention. Again, the sticker 100 shares a number of features with the stickers 50 and 80 and like numerals denote like parts.
The sticker 100 comprises a front-sheet 12 and a back-sheet 82. The back-sheet 82 substantially covers the rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12. A perforated line 84 in theback-sheet 82 defines a region 86, as best seen in Figure 10.
The front-sheet 12 has a perforated line 102 therein defining on three sides a region 104. The region 104 is of a smaller area than region 86 in the back-sheet 82. The region 104 may be pulled in-part away from the back-sheet 82 to expose the front face 88 of the back-sheet 82, as shown in Figures 14 and 15. The portion of back-sheet 82 thereby exposed may have information 26 applied thereto, as can be best seen in Figure 14.
In use, a user (not shown) wishing to convey information 26 may take the sticker 10 and apply the information 26 through whatever means to the portion 24 of the rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12.
The user would then separate the back-sheet 14 from the front-sheet 12 by gripping it at the portion thereof overlaying the area 28 of the rear face 18 of the front-sheet 12. The sticker 10 is then adhered by way of the adhesive 23 to a surface 32, as can be seen in Figure 4. This presents the message and/or logo 30 to an observer (not shown), but not the information 26.
A person (not shown) wishing to receive the information 26 may separate the front-sheet 12 from the surface 32 by gripping the area 28 and pulling. The front-sheet 12 will pull away from the surface 32 as shown in Figure 4. The information 26 may then be observed by the person.
At this point the sticker 10 may be reapplied to a surface 32 with or without adding to or deleting from the information 26 or may simply be disposed of.
In use, a user may take the sticker 50 and unfold the second portion 56 from the first portion 54 of the sheet 52. Information 26 is then applied to the rear-face 62 of the first portion 54 and/or front face of the second portion 56. The second portion 56 is the folded over onto the first portion 54.
The user may then separate the back-sheet 14 from the front sheet 12 as described previously for the sticker 50. The sticker 10 is then adhered by way of the adhesive 23 to a surface 32. Again, this presents only the information and/or logo 30 to an observer.
The person to receive the 26 again separates the front-sheet 12 and sheet 52 from the surface 32 by gripping the area 28 and pulling. The front-sheet 12 and sheet 52 pull away from the surface 32 as shown in Figure 8. The information 26 may then be observed by the person upon unfolding of the second portion 56 of the sheet 52.
The sticker 50 may be reapplied to a surface 32 with or without adding to or deleting from the information 26 or may simply be disposed of.
In use, the sticker 80 may have information 26 applied to the rear-face 90 of the region 86 of the back-sheet 82 by a user.
The back-sheet 82 is then partially separated from the front-sheet 12 leaving the region 86 adhered to the front-sheet 12 as the back-sheet 82 breaks along the perforated line 84.
The sticker 80 is then adhered by way'of the adhesive 23 to a surface 32. Again, the information 26 is thereby hidden and the message and/or logo 30 only is presented to an observer.
The person to receive the information 26 removes the front-sheet 12 and the region 86 of the back-sheet 82 from the surface by gripping the area 28 and pulling. The front-sheet 12 and the region 86 pull away from the surface 32 as shown in Figure 12. The information 26 may then be observed by the person.
The sticker 80 may be reapplied to a surface 32 with or without adding to or deleting from the information 26 or may simply be disposed of.
The sticker 100 is used in substantially the same way as the sticker 80. However, extra space for information 26 is provided on the front-face 88 of the back sheet 82 under the region 104 of the front-sheet 12. The information 26 under the region 104 may be received before or after separation of the sticker 100 from the surface 32. After separation of the sticker 100 from the surface 32 the receiver may observe the information 26 on the region 86 of the back-sheet 82.
The sticker 100 may be reapplied to a surface 32 with or without adding to or deleting from the information 26 or may simply be disposed of.
The stickers 10, 50, 80 and 100 need not have the area 28 provided free of adhesive 23.
It is envisaged that the sheet 52 of the sticker 50 may not fold but may simply be a sheet applied to the portion 24.
Alternatively, the sheet 52 may comprise more than the two portions 54 and 56 and may have a number of leaves some or all of which may be used to carry the information 26. In addition, the rear-face 66 of the second portion 56 may also be used to carry part of or all of the information 26.
It is further envisaged, that the front-sheet 12 will typically be flexible in nature whereas the back-sheet 14 or 82 may be either flexible or rigid.
Modifications and variations such as would be apparent to a skilled addressee are deemed within the scope of the present invention.
