Description

Patent Snecification of Humitrace Calibrated Humidity A traceable portable range of humidity standards with universal fixings to accommodate majority of humidity sensor types.
Description Humitec is a multi-walled polycarbonate or other suitable plastic container has within its construction a moisture vapour permeable membrane which creates two chambers.
The outer chamber contains a saturated salt slurry sealed by reason of the membrane from the inner chamber which is of suitable dimension to accommodate a sensor of commercially available type designed to measure relative humidity. The partial vapor pressure (RH) generated by one of a range of saturated salt slurries permeates the membrane and creates an equilibrum relative humidity within the chamber which contains the sensor under test.

Our claim is that due to a NAMAS calibration procedure developed and practiced by my Company, which satisfies the regulation of NAMAS at the National Physical Laboratory, I can offer portable humidity standards which create known humidities at various points from 0% to 100% and which by reason of calibration through NAMAS can be accepted as traced humidity standards.
The standard Humitrace units can be applied to any number of humidity sensors and the values achieved would be used as a fixed point on the RH scale for instrument adjustment or recording.

Claims (3)

Claims
1) Humitrace Calibrated Humidity, a multi-walled portable humidity standard with universal fittings to accommodate majority of RH sensor types.
2) Humitrace Calibrated Humidity, produces a wide range of humidities generated between the points of 0% and 100$ RH.
3) Humitrace Calibrated Humidity is traced to the UK. Humidity standard at the National Physical Laboratory through NAMAS.
CLAIM 1 A multi walled apparatus containing a saturated salt solution separated by a porous wall arranged to produce an enclosed volume of a certain humidity, characterised by being traceable to the United Kingdom National standard.
CLAIM 2 As for claim 1 with traceable calibration through the NAMAS system.
CLAIM 3 As for claim 1 or 2 wherein the apparatus is portable.
CLAIM 4 Apparatus according to claim 1 or claim 2 or claim 3 wherein the apparatus is fitted with an adaptor to accomadate the majority of Relative Humidity sensor types.
CLAIM 5 Apparatus according to any of the above claims wherein the humidity generated by the saturated salt solution is in the range of O to 100 per cent relative humiditiy.
CLAIM 6 A multi walled apparatus containing a saturated salt solution separated by a porous wall arranged to produce an enclosed volume of certain humidity characterised by being traceably calibrated to a national standard.
CLAIM 7 Apparatus according to claim 6 with the features described in claim 3 or claim 4 or claim 5.
CLAIM 8 Any apparatus for traceable humidity calibration as described herein with reference to the accompanying drawings.
CLAIM 9 That the two chamber device as described and illustrated be used for the generation of gasses other than humidity.
