Controllers, rectilinearly sliding. - A device controlling a motor to be run in parallel with an existing installation for example the illuminating lamp of a home cinematograph comprises an insulating block upon which resistances 11 and control studs 11<a> are arranged. Two leads 5, 6 issue from a casing 14 one being connected to terminals 1, 3 and the other to a conducting rod 9 upon which slides a clock 10 which makes contact with the studs 11<a> through a slot in the casing. The upper stud is insulated to enable the motor &c. circuit to be broken and the lowest stud is connected to the terminals 2, 4.
