Attaching spiked plates.-A. machine of the kind in which the punching or setting plunger 20 is reciprocated by a hand-operated crank-shaft 10 through a link connection 25, is provided with resilient stops to limit the upward and downward movements of the plunger. In the form shown in Figs. 2 and 3, bent pins 8, 9 secured to the crank-shaft 10 one at each end, limit the angle through which the lever may be turned, by abutting against resilient buffers 11, 12 attached to a fixed part of the frame of the machine. In a modification, bent extensions 18, 19, Fig. 6, cast in one with the crank-shaft 10, are so arranged as to abut against resilient buffer pins 20<1>, 20<11> of a stop-device 21 secured to the machine frame.
