Abstract

478,147. Ropes. SPARKES, J. S., and S. & H. ROPE ATTACHMENTS, Ltd. Oct. 23, 1936, No. 28892. Addition to 301,285, [Class 109]. [Class 109] Capping.-A capel comprises a tapered body consisting of two or more interlocking members a, a<1> each having a grooved tortuous surface b to receive one portion of a rope or cable when in looped position upon a grooved thimble d. The rope &c. is also in contact with grooved interlocking members o<1> which are held apart by wedges e integral with links k. The members a, a are enclosed by a tapered sleeve m which replaces the binding rings described in the parent Specification. The lower end of the sleeve has two slotted ears n and the thimble d is also slotted. A cage pin or other load carrying spindle is threaded through the slots o and the lower ends of the links k, so holding all the parts together whatever the .position of the capel and securing the sleeve m against creeping.
