Abstract

561,938. Heating; ice-making. EGLI, M. June 18, 1942, No. 8372. A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 28, 1942. [Class 29] Compression machines.-In a heating plant utilizing a closed compressing - condensing - evaporating cycle, or an absorption cycle, heat of low temperature is derived from the freezing of a limited; quantity of water, the ice being continuously discharged through a siphon trap. The plant shown comprises a compressor 1, condenser- 2 giving up heat, and an evaporator 3 immersed in water in a tank 4 divided by a verticalpartition 5. The water may be agitated' by air injected at 13, and circulated by an injector 8. The evaporator comprises a tubular member of oval section adapted to distort to a round section under increased pressure to detach the ice formed on it, the ice floating to the surface and flowing over the partition 5 to a trap 10 at the top of a wavy perforated tube 9 leading to a discharge drain 12.
