Abstract

760,922. Endless track vehicles. EIMCO CORPORATION. Sept. 27, 1954 [June 26, 1953], No. 17811/53. Class 79(1). A vehicular endless track assemblage comprises a frame unit having side plates 1, 2 and a rigid structure 3 to which the plates are fixed, the plates 1, 2 carrying at one end and at top and bottom idler wheels 9, 12, 13 and the assemblage being adapted to be bolted by the frame unit to the vehicle body. As shown the wheel 9 is mounted to a bearing carried by an eccentric pin 11 carried by angularly adjustable plates 1 1a, 11b pivoted to the side plates by a bolt 11c for adjusting track tension as described in Specification 743,282. A driving sprocket 10 has a splined boss 14 for disconnectably engaging a driving shaft of the vehicle. In order that the sprocket may remain on the driving shaft on removal of the assemblage from the vehicle, the plate 2 may be slotted at 22. When the assemblage is removed as a whole, the plates 1, 2 may have bushings 19 for supporting a temporary arbor 21 for the sprocket. The vehicle may comprise an overhead bucket loader, a conveyer, a transporter, a crane or the like, and it is stated that the invention facilitates speedy replacement of a faulty assemblage. According to the Provisional Specification carrier arms for temporary attachment to the side plate are connected by a bridge member to suspension means, which are movable along an overhead beam temporarily mounted on the vehicle and may comprise a spring of adjustable tension.
