Abstract
A polyolefin is stabilized with a composition comprising an alkyl substituted mono- or bisphenolic compound and a triaryl phosphine. Preferred stabilizers are 4,41-thio-bis(3-Me-6-tBu phenol), 4,41-butyl-idene-bis (3-Me-6- tBu phenol), 2,21-methylene-bis (4-Et-6- tBu phenol), 2,6-di-tBu-4-Me-phenol, and tri (phenyl, naphthyl or anthracyl) phosphine. The polyolefin may be derived from ethylene, propylene, butene, pentene and/or 4-methyl -1- pentene. Optional ingredients are other stabilizers such as hydrazine or calcium stearate.
