[001] The present invention relates to the field of roller shutters. More specifically, to a field of locking curtain of a roller shutter, preventing the opening of the curtain by pushing it up from outside.

[002] Roller shutters can be opened from the outside by elevating the slats. Regarding to roller shutters, this possibility is a security lack. The present invention provides a lock that can be used for locking the curtain of a roller shutter and prevents the ability to push the slats up and open the curtain. id="p-3" id="p-3" id="p-3" id="p-3" id="p-3" id="p-3" id="p-3" id="p-3" id="p-3" id="p-3" id="p-3"

[003] The present invention is a lock, for locking the curtain of a roller shutter. According to the present invention, the lock is comprised of (a) a lock-tongue, installed on an end of a slat of the curtain and projected from the edge of this slat, in direction to the sidewall or to the curtain rail. The lock-tongue moves up and down with the slat; and (b) a locking system.

Claims

1./ Claims 1. A lock for locking a curtain of a roller shutter to a side wall or a rail in which the curtain is running up and down, the lock comprising: (a) a lock-tongue installed on an end of a slat of the curtain and projected from an edge of said slat in a direction of the side wall or the rail of the curtain, and, said lock-tongue moves up and down with said slat; and (b) a locking system comprising: (i) a housing to be installed either inside the rail, outside the rail, or on the side wall, in the same side where said lock tongue is installed, wherein said housing has a side opening in a direction to said lock-tongue, wherein the housing has walls, a bottom and a roof; (ii) a lower rack and an upper rack, each rack associated with a pinion, wherein each pinion is installed on an axis between the walls of the housing, the bottom, and the roof, wherein said lower rack and associated pinion having an arm horizontally projected from the center of said pinion to outside said housing through an opening, and wherein said upper rack and associated pinion are located on top of said lower rack and associated pinion, having two arms, a first arm that is horizontally projected from the center of said pinion to outside said housing through another opening and a second arm that is vertical to said first arm, and a spring is installed between the upper rack and the roof; and (iii) a spring stopper located behind a lower edge of said lower rack in order to hold said lower rack up after it was elevated be released by a small threshold power down; wherein, in order to lock said curtain using the lock – the lock-tongue moves down with the curtain and reaches said locking system, said lock-tongue pushes said horizontal arm of said upper pinion down and elevates said upper rack and when said lock-tongue passes said horizontal arm, said spring pushes back said upper rack that returns back said horizontal arm, which blocks the ability of moving back up of said lock-tongue, since said upper rack is blocked by said lower rack and therefore the clockwise rotation of said upper pinion is blocked; and 265354/ wherein, in order to release the lock-tongue to enable the curtain to move back up, said curtain moves down for a while until said lock-tongue pushes said horizontal projected arm of said lower rack and pinion and said lower rack is held up by said spring stopper, said lower rack pushes up said upper rack that rotates the upper pinion to a position that both said arms of said upper rack and pinion were rotated anticlockwise by 90 degrees, then said curtain moves up with said lock-tongue, which pushes the second projected arm of said upper rack and pinion and rotates said pinion back to its original position by pushing both racks down with a power that releases said spring stopper and the curtain can be continued up.

The lock of claim 1, installed on a roller shutter, wherein the motor of said roller shutter is programmed to stop the curtain after said lock-tongue pass said projected arm of said upper rack and pinion in order to lock said curtain, and wherein in order to release said curtain, said motor is programmed to drive down said curtain for a while until said lock-tongue passed said projected arm of said lower rack and pinion, then said motor drives said curtain up.

3. The lock of claim 1, wherein said lock-tongue is installed by adding it to said curtain – or replacing an existing one – a longer slat that is projected aside and is used as a lock-tongue.
