Description of the Related Art Generally, in steel strip electroplating, a steel strip and an electrode plate are immersed in a plating solution, the steel strip is connected to a cathode of a DC power supply, and the electrode plate is connected to an anode of the DC power supply. By doing so, the cations in the plating solution are caused to adhere to the steel strip. In order to increase the ratio of the current used for plating (plating efficiency) of the current flowing between the electrode plate and the steel strip, the distance between the electrode plate and the steel plate (hereinafter referred to as the pole distance) must be shortened. There is a need to. However, when the distance between the poles is shortened, the difference between the distance between the front and back surfaces of the steel strip and the electrode plate becomes relatively large due to a slight shift of the position of the steel strip, and the plating amount between the front and back surfaces can be different. There is a problem. There is also a problem that the steel strip and the electrode plate come into contact (spark) due to vibration or catenary (slack phenomenon) of the steel strip. For this reason, it is important that the steel strip pass through the center between the opposing electrode plates as much as possible.

In the technology disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 20494 and Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 4-54221 in which a steel strip is held by generating lift by a tapered projection, the distance between the poles is reduced by the projected insulator. Have physical limitations.
Further, the technique using a roller as disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Laid-Open No. 60-161167 has problems such as a decrease in the electrode area and difficulty in maintenance work.

The steel strip is pushed toward the center, and the steel strip runs in the center between the electrodes. As a result, vibration and catenary can be suppressed, and the distance between the poles can be reduced as compared with the related art.

However, as in the present invention, a steel strip can be stably passed through. The use of this technique as a plate is a noteworthy matter. Here, when a resin protector having a shape along the recess is fitted and the end of the protector is projected from the electrode surface, the steel strip can be more reliably prevented from contacting the electrode.

FIG. 1 is a side view showing the structure of the electrode of the horizontal electroplating apparatus, and FIG. 2 is a plan view of the electrode shown in FIG. The horizontal electroplating apparatus 10 is provided with a conductor roll 14 for supplying electricity to the steel strip 12 and a backup roll 16 for supporting the steel strip 12 between the conductor roll 14. Electrodes 18 and 20 are provided to face each other with the steel strip 12 interposed therebetween. Electrode 18,
The steel strip 12 is located at a position facing the surfaces 18b and 20b of the steel strip 20.
Grooves 18a and 20a are formed in the width direction, respectively, and resin protectors 22 and 24 having a shape along the grooves are fitted into the grooves 18a and 20a. The ends 22 a and 24 a of the protectors 22 and 24 project from the surfaces 18 b and 20 b of the electrodes 18 and 20.

FIG. 3 is an explanatory diagram exemplifying vibration of the steel strip, and is a view observed from a direction perpendicular to the running direction of the steel strip. Electrode 18,
The steel strip 12 running between the surfaces 18b and 20b of the surface 20 (see FIG. 1) is supported by the conductor roll 14 and the backup roll 16 (see FIG. 1) at a position shown by an arrow 26, and furthermore, an arrow 28 Groove 18 at the position indicated by
a and 20a are supported by the static pressure generated. For this reason, the steel strip 12 runs in the center between the electrodes 18 and 20.
However, in the conventional horizontal electroplating apparatus, the grooves 18a,
Since the steel strip 30 is not formed, the traveling steel strip 30 is close to the front surface 20b of the electrode 20, and there are problems such as a difference in plating amount between the front and rear faces of the steel strip 12.
