BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a fluorescent lamp socket (hereinafter abbreviated as "socket") in which a pair of sockets face each other with a fluorescent lamp interposed therebetween.

2. Description of the Related Art Heretofore, as a socket of this type, a receiving plate for receiving an end of a lamp and having a pin hole through which a lamp pin has to be passed is applied from the back side of an opening provided in the front of the socket, and one end is connected to an electric wire. It is known that the receiving plate is pressed by the other end of a conductive piece made of an elastic material as a contact point. The present invention comprises a socket body in which a conductive piece is to be accommodated and fixed, and a lid having an opening for a receiving plate, and the receiving plate is provided with an overhang to be provided on the back surface of the lid. The prior art is a socket having a different structure.

The above-mentioned prior art socket is easy to assemble since the conductive piece can be housed in the main body of the socket, so that it is a useful technique in this respect. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems of the prior art, and prevents unnecessary pressing force on the lid, so that the lid can be used for many years. An object of the present invention is to provide a socket that does not float.

That is, in the socket of the present invention, a receiving plate provided with a pin hole through which a lamp pin is to be received is fitted from the back side of an opening provided in a front surface of the socket, and one end is provided with a fixing portion to the socket. The receiving plate is made to be a socket to be pressed by the other end of the conductive piece made of the elastic material, and the socket is composed of a socket body in which the conductive piece is to be accommodated and fixed, and a lid having an opening for the receiving plate. According to the present invention, the projection of the receiving plate is applied from the back side of the opening provided in the front of the socket and pressed by the conductive piece, but at the same time, the projection of the receiving plate is engaged with the projection in the socket body.
