なお調湿する石炭を80〜95%としたのは次の理由によ
る。(1)80%未満では未調湿炭の割合が多くなりす
ぎ、調湿炭法のメリットが小さくなること。(2)95%
超えではコンベヤ上の調湿炭層の上を未調湿炭でカバー
しきれず、石炭粉塵が発生するためである。

調湿炭設備5へ、残りの5〜15%の石炭は石炭搬送コン
ベヤ3dにより調湿炭設備5をバイパスさせ、調湿炭設
備5の出側で調湿炭搬送コンベヤ3eに乗せた乾燥した
石炭上に上乗せしこれをカバーする。その後調湿炭コン
ベヤ3eによりコークス炉6まで搬送するものである。
