剤として有効である旨記載されている。特開昭63-28364
6号公報にはアニリンを添着した活性炭とリンゴ酸、鉄
塩、アニリンを添着した活性炭の混合物がアセトアルデ
ヒド、低級アミン、炭化水素等の臭気を除去するため大
きな効果がある旨記載されている。また本発明者は特願
昭63-175994号において、活性炭等の多孔性物質に無機
酸アニリン塩を1種類またはそれ以上添着せしめてなる
空気浄化剤がタバコの臭気除去に有効である旨を記載し
た。

オフィス、家庭等の生活空間で発生する悪臭には、組
成的にはアセトアルデヒドなどの低級脂肪族アルデヒ
ド、アンモニア、低級アミン、炭化水素、硫化水素、メ
チルメルカプタン等が含まれている。その代表的なもの
として、たばこを喫煙したときに発生する臭気がある。
活性炭はこれらの悪臭物質の吸着除去に有効であるが、

らつくことが注目された。また時にはわずかのアミン臭
が感じられるバッチもあった。これより添着炭の調整法
と吸着性の関係を検討した結果、添着前の活性炭の洗浄
が不充分でPHの高い場合に著しく吸着性が低下すること
を見出した。これに基づいて更に水洗と酸水洗の関係等
を検討した結果本発明に到達した。

洗浄が不十分の場合にはアセトアルデヒド等の悪臭ガス
の吸着性が低下するからである。また酸水溶液で洗浄す
る場合酸の種類は特に限定しないが、略同一の酸濃度で
洗浄した場合、洗浄効果をしらべるため活性炭内部に残
存するアルカリ金属塩、アルカリ土類金属塩、鉄塩の減
少度合をしらべると、塩酸が最も効果的である。また本
願発明の効果についても略同様な関係が認められる。従
って、酸としては塩酸が好ましい。また塩酸の濃度は特
に限定しないが、比較的低濃度でも洗浄効果が認められ
0.3〜1.0規定が好ましい。

〔作用・効果〕水洗または酸水洗は後述の実施の態様で
は具体的に示すように、本願発明の顕著な効果の1つで
ある低級脂肪族アルデヒドの除去に極めて効果的であ
る。その作用機構は充分明らかでないが、水洗または酸
水洗により活性炭のPH及びアルカリ金属塩、アルカリ土
類金属塩及び鉄塩等の含有率が低下することが認められ
る。一方本発明の吸着剤は銅アニリン錯体を含むことを
必須要件とするものであるから、これらの塩類が除去さ
れることにより、活性炭のpHも低下して担持された銅ア
ニリン錯体が安定な状態で存在し得ることもその一因と
考えられる。しかし、かなり充分な水洗をしても尚PH及
び無機塩類含有率の低下の度合は酸水洗に及ばないが、
アセトアルデヒド吸着性は酸水洗品と余り変らない点が
注目される。
